patella luxation?
« on: April 27, 2008, 02:28:44 pm »
Does anyone know anything about patella luxation in big paws? Does it require surgery? Are there special things to do to help manage it?  Apparantly, Jenny my Pyr, might have this condition, so I'm trying to find out what I can about it. What I've discovered so far is that usually it's little dogs that have this condition and that most of the time it doesn't seem to bother them too much and then for some dogs, surgery is required. My vet is not alarming about this in any way and feels that Jenny will be just fine, but I believe in being armed with information and want to know what I can before I go back to the vet for results.

Melanie (11 yrs) Domestic medium hair cat

It is a condition in big paws. You can read up about it on line. I'm having Tripper tested this week for it becasue it can be painful for them and cause temporary lameness.
