Meet Roo- warning, graphic graphic pictures
« on: May 06, 2008, 09:49:51 pm »
Be careful when viewing the pictures, try not to scream!

So Jax went to a different rescue (Yaay!) so I was able to take on Roo. Found on the side of the road by a friend of one of my volunteers, Roo is severely malnurished, deformed, has demodex, and is full of parasites. He can not walk, but hops like a kangaroo. Hence the name Roo. So far the vets think nothing can be done about his front legs.

He is very, very loving and sweet, and quite active with his disability.

aww poor sweetie.. i think he's absolutely beautiful. reminds me of my cousins cat she just adopted. he has 1 eye (born that way) , half a nose and lip pulls up so a tooth is exposed. the shelter volunteers said she couldn't possibly want him because he's ugly.. mr modo is the most gentle cat i've evee met.. kudos to you for taking him in!

Roo? Not that the vet thinks. He seems to have gotten used to his deformity.. like those weird twisty cats. He put him on painkillers just in case, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm going to call a specialist this week and see if we can get him an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon- maybe pins etc? I dont know. We'll see- its like his legs formed new joints.

He looks like a sweet boy. Perhaps even braces on them..i wonder if it could be from a nutrition issue... like a weird form of HOD???

a friend of ours in WA state rescued a dobbie with front legs like that and the vet told her it was due to a lack essential nutrition in the puppy stage, especially calcium and other vital minerals.
She still has the old fart and aside from his front end being lower than his back, he his a happy(now) and well adjusted boy. He doesnt run fast or very far but it doesnt seem to bother him like he is in pain.

Some people make me sick.

THANK YOU  for all you do for these poor souls.
Roo is now on his way!!!
What a sweetheart.
We have many problems at our SPCA with reserve dogs coming in
with mange, lice, fleas etc.  They are primarily pitties, and soooooo sweet!
You're a very special lady!

Don't know if you know of this website, she has terrific info.
Could this be what Roo has (except more severe) ?
