metallic odor?? i need opinions please....

the past week peanut has developed a metallic smell to him.  not like a bloody smell, just a metallic smell.  i've checked him over, nothing is wrong with him.  nothing in his poop.  i gave him two baths and each time the smell comes back.  none of our other dogs have this smell, and nothing in or around our house smells like this.  any ideas what could be causing this??

I have found this weird spot on Lily's elbow. At first I just thought that it's dirty but when I looked closer I realized it's not. It has flaky brown skin at the buttom of each hair. It doesn't look like a hot spot nor like allergy. I have never seen anything like this before. Please let me know if you have a clue.
