neutering & humping
« on: July 23, 2008, 10:28:17 am »
I just recently got my youngest dog neutered, he'll be a year old next month, and now my other male dog who is 8 and not neutered won't stop humping him. He's never done this before, he's never been a "humper". I'm not sure what's going on, could it have something to do with the neutering?

Has the neutered dog been bathed since the surgery or is it to soon?
I have found that sometimes the "smell" of surgery on a dog can cause others to act different around them. If the neutered guy is all healed try bathing him.

Sounds like a dominance thing to me. "Ha, I've got b_ _ _ s and you don't" Now feeling very confident as to who is top dog. I don't know how to stop the behavior. Our neutered male has just started humping our spayed female.

Dogs - sometimes they can be a bit disgusting to us humans. :P

My boyfriends collie is neutered but still likes to hump his sisters male yellow lab. He doesn't try to hump the male chocolate lab or my female dane. So I think it is a dominace thing. If your other dog gets tired of it and puts him in his place it will probably stop.
