Finally in the water
« on: August 10, 2008, 09:40:35 pm »
This is the third time to the lake and finally got them in and enjoying it. :D Syrus had to be the big brother and pick on Sophie. >:(

Please pay no attention to the poster child for skin cancer. I've had them all including the big Melanoma, hence the pastey white legs and goofy hat. Note to all - Wear your sun screen! :o

The dogs had a blast and were very exhausted when we got home.

;D Well Syrus is no life saver, he tried to drown her  :o :o
I loved the video, thank you for posting it. I have never met a newf who eventually did not take to water. One of our rescues was terrified of water at first, but finally gave it a go.

We started the pups with ramp from the first day we had them. We were told to be careful with their huge joint development  and I was trying to keep vet bills down. Silly me. Bwaaahaaa vet bills down ;D

Okay - I have to admit I laughed out loud and spit out my apple watching you try and drag a newf in to the water! Hysterical! And then to see Sophie get dunked and Momma come to the rescue! I love it!
Question about the ramp - does it fold up and go in the car to get them back in once at the destination?
"A righteous man regardeth the life of his animals" Proverbs 12:10
Meli - Golden retriever
Timber - newfie/border collie X
2 skin kids - ages 5 & 8
2 cats - Maui and Maea (who own us all)

It actually slides in on itself and fits nicely in the car. You have to watch what you're doing. Twice I've let it slide out onto my foot. Major owweeee!  :-X I think we got it from Petsmart for about $70.00. It really is a must with the big guys. Our friend chides us about the ramp. He has a Springer that is wound like a spring - hmm maybe that's where springer comes from - and can leap tall buildings. Anyway, I think she is just a show off. ;)
