I to had a three legged baby.  Dufas a 12 year old black lab mix.  He weighed 120 LB's and the vet also said it would be hard for him to get around.  We went to Raleigh, NC every three weeks for chemo a little more than a three hour drive.  He lived for a little over three and a half years.  His age and the ability to work on the three legs is the reason we helped along his passing.  It was tuff for him but I don't think he  minded the three legs. He still chased the postman(only then the postman would wait for him to catch up) So not only did we have the whole vet staff crying knowing how hard we all worked with him, he is now the reason for alot of amputies in our area as for before him they did not suggest it on older or large dogs. But I had the only 15 year old four thousand dollar mutt in the area.  I thought it was well worth it.

I agree with your inspiration. Bruno was 147 pounds and on my bone cancer list there are danes/OEM/wolfhounds/pyranese etc.
I spent about 13 000 as well and would it all over again :)
He was and is my true hero.I miss him more than i could ever say..
So nice to meet you my fellow amputee mom!!!!
PS i even got him a 3 legged toy of the NET lol

:'(I am so sorry to hear about your loss and Dufas mom too. Have lost dogs before but knock on wood, never had to deal with amp. or bone cancer. The three legged toy is just too qute. Lucky dogs to have such devoted moms.
