Puppy vs dog ?
« on: September 02, 2008, 11:39:58 am »
I always call Tub(Saint) my puppy and this weekend my Mom was in town and asked how long he would be a puppy for. I told her I suppose as long as I call him one ;) So now I'm wondering if there is a certain age where they go from being a puppy to a dog?

I've always called mine dogs and I think because I adopted them as adults, so they are dogs to me!  ;)

I've usually stopped calling them puppies when they stop looking like one.  usually by a year old or so.

But I still call Nigel and Posey puppies.  Actually I use it when I want both of them to come.  I just call "puppies!" and they both come running.  I guess i still call them that b/c they are small and puppyish compared to the others........ ......lol.

Things rings true for me. Shadow, who I adopted at the old age of 7+ is now at least 15, but is small and up until the last few years people often mistook her as a puppy.  I'd be all, "What are you talking about?"

Bo, however, will be always be a puppy to me.  And Raja too, although she was closing in on a year when I adopted her and people think I'm nuts.

I think they are puppies as long as they want to be.  I'm wondering when Grace will grow up.  She's still got a lot of puppy in her.
