I love BPO. What a great place to bring people together for mutual support.
I totally agree with you! I was so upset yesterday, but knowing that others are (or have) going through the same thing is very supportive. So thanks so much!
Thanks for checking with your vet about the Phycox. My vet said that he's been recommending glucosomine for the past 20 years, and has never seen the results that he's seen before using this product. I did a google search on it, and responses sound promising! I did get suckered in at buying it at the vet's at about $80.00 (for 120 tabs). Just found it on Amazon.com for 1/2 that price.
Another thing- Prior to all of this, I had Winston on Glucosamine from Target. My vet and I talked about how products, such as glucosamine, are not regulated by the FDA. Therefore, it's impossible to know the how much glucosomine you're actually getting. For example, he said for any given 500mg pill, the
actual content could range from 30-3000mg (that may not be exactly right, but you get the point...). He said that when research studies are conducted on glucosamine, that actually have to manufacture their own in order to know its EXACT contents because it varies so widely. So, you may want to think about veterinary-grade products. I'll keep you posted to see if the Phycox lives up to the hype!
Right now, Winston is on only two weeks of the Rimadyl. He goes back in after two weeks to check blood levels. After that, we're going to discontinue the Rimadyl (or use only periodically) provided that he's not limping and is feeling better. If we do need it longer, I'll keep Deramax in mind, so thank you!!!
*Big sigh* I'll guess we'll all just learn together, huh?
