Hi everyone...I'm new here
« on: August 13, 2005, 12:49:34 pm »
Hello everyone!
I'm Kelly and I have 2 Newfs.  A 2 year old black male named Owen and a 7 month old Irish Spotted girl named Hope.  The fur and drool fly high and free around here!  I already recognize a few people here and am looking forward to getting to know more of you.

There are alot of big paws in my life.  I had a Golden for 12 years.  At one point there were 5 Goldens in our extended family.  My sister now has a lab and 2 Mastiffs.  Her newest Mastiff is a rescue believed to be 6-8 years old.  My in laws have a Doberman, and our aunt and uncle have a Golden.  I'm so used to big dogs I'm afraid that I would step on a little one.   ;)

Welcome to Big Paws Only.

I've never heard of an Irish Spotted Newf.  I can't wait to see pics of her.  Tell us all about your Newfs.

Tina

An Irish Spotted Newf is also called a "mismark."  My understanding/explanation of an IS is they have too much white to be considered a black, and not enough white to be a landseer.  (Of course there's alot of genetics in there that I have NO clue about or even try to explain!  LOL)  She has 4 white paws, a white chest, and white tip on her tail.  He head is all black, but sometimes they have a white blaze or other white on their faces.  I believe if they are going to be shown they can be shown in the "black" class.  Don't quote me on that one though because I'm not positive on that one.  :)
Here is a pic where you can see her white feet and tail.

Here is her white chest...and to the right is her big bro Owen.  :)

Welcome Kelly and fur kids. Your Hope looks so cute in the pic with her big brother. I love her markings! I totally want my next Newf to have 4 white paws...tall order I know but I can hope. For now I have an almost 3 year old baby named Bear.
Hugs,

Hello..we have an AKC newf puppy named Magoo who has some very original markings on his feet. Looks a lot like the markings your dog has. Here is a picture.
