our new muppet dog
« on: August 19, 2005, 01:57:45 pm »
I am not sure if this guy is a big paw or what, because we don't know what he is or whether he is full grown! He came from the pound with a full shaggy matted tick-infested coat and we had no idea what he looked like underneath it all until he was shaven. Here he is in all his muppet-like glory, and we named him Furley. Really he is supposedly my boyfriend's dog but whatever, I am the one taking care of him all day every day!
Anyhow I wanted to show him to everyone because he is such an oddity. He has adult teeth but they are sparkling clean and new, so he could be anywhere from 6 months to a year. He acts like a puppy, he's very bouncy and he chews up anything he can find. He is taller than Zoot, about 24 or 25 inches, but weighs only 45 lbs.
Here's FURLEY!

WOW!!  He's a looker!  His eyes are just gorgeous, and yes he does look like a little muppet doggie, but that's what makes him soooo adorable. lol  Even if he's not a big paw, thanks for sharing the awesome pics!  Have fun with him!!! ;D

What a cutie!! He DOES look like a muppet.  I think he looks like he may have IW in him too, or deerhound, or even schnauzer (any size).  Whatever he is, he sure is a darling.

Yes, he is a real sweetie. It's funny, the whole reason we went down to the pound tht day is because we heard that there was an "Irish Wolfhound" there. We walked down every aisle and looked at every dog, and finally we were like, do you think htat little guy is who they were talking about???!
He has a coat like an Old English Sheepdog when it is full. Of course it was so matted and gross it HAD to go! Now he looks like a lamb!

I LOVE him!! I think he's perfect just the way he is - breed-identified or not. He's a purebred "Whatsit".

Here's an updated photo of ol' Mr. Furley! He is getting fluffy! I am noticing some husky-like traits in him... he has that little high pitched husky howl... and he really kinda looks like a cute scruffy wolf!!
