How are you?  You are in my thoughts and prayers today.  Sweet, peaceful journey Emmett.  We'll all see you one day.

When I had to make the same choice for my Zephyr angel, someone sent me this lovely poem.  It helped to dull the ache, though nothing could ease the pain except for time.  We'll be thinking off you.

~I Stood by Your Bed Last Night~

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew,
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good- night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.

I thought of you and Emmett Kelly today about 10am.

It was such a beautiful day here. I was driving through some trees, and there were beautiful rays coming from the sun.

Or were they going to it?

He has been lifted free of his worn out earthly body.

I will be lighting a candle tonight in his memory.

Godspeed, Emmett Kelly.

May we all be so well loved and tenderly missed when we are gone.

I am crying as well.
We were in the same situation 4 months ago and my heart goes out to you.
This was on one of the cards we were sent.

A pet is a special part of your family
who will always have a special place in your heart.
They are gone from our sight but never our memory,
gone from our hearing but never our hearts,
gone from our touch but their presence is felt,
and the love that they gave us never departs.

God speed Emmett Kelly

OH, SAR, I'm so sorry about your loss of Emmett Kelly!  How are you doing?  I'm sitting here with tears running down my face ( ONLY on this site....the ONLY thing I cry about is animals!).  Reading that poem brought back the loss of my two wonderful Newfs last year.  I know your Emmett must have had a wonderful life with you and the joy of bringing you and your husband together must of been so much fun to share.  Rest in peace, dear Emmett, and please accept our condonlences, SAR!
