My friends Lab/Pit mix....HELP!!!!
« on: September 11, 2005, 08:14:25 pm »
Just got a call from a friend freaking about her dog...She & her honey adopted her from the ASPCA & were told she was "fixed"...Well, she wasn't...At 4 months old they thought she had a heat cycle but weren't sure...She is now 9 months & is definitely having a heat cycle...What my friend is concerned about is her dog barked & "blood just gushed out"...They are going to have her fixed asap as they now know for sure she wasn't fixed but, is it normal for blood to "gush out" when a dog barks that is in heat or not?...Ty in advance!

Yeah.

It can be pretty grody.

LOL

They should let her finish her season, and then schedule her spay about 30 days later.

Little boy's underwear (with the tail through the fly) help a lot. You can put a sanitary napkin in and let her wear that around the house.

It can vary. Usually not before 6 months but that can happen too.

It can come anytime between 6 months and about 15 months. Most larger breed puppy bitches come in the first time a little later than smaller breed bitches.

Dixie Darlin' is 8 months and I check her everyday with a baby wipe.  Sounds like I am not just looking for a single drop of blood but a lot.
