Oh, yeah, dysplasia.  Yep!  We've been there with our first Newf!  And that's what was explained to me by the orthopedic surgeon who did Otis' hip replacement.  OFA excellent parents can have pups with dysplasia.  There are NO guarantees.

yes  it can happen
but at least the OFA was done
the chances for h/d are cut by 80 % from OFA parents
NEVER A GuaREENTEE ON ANy ANIMAL,,,but we do our best

i once,,,,,,,,i cant believe it was even bred ,,,,,, a severe H/D bitch
produced an OFA excelent pup,,,,,,,,,
but who knows  the offspring that will pull the severe

i wont say the kennel name of this so called rr "BREEDER"? BUT A MINI PUPPY MILL,,,,,,,,SO SAD
he even bred a bitch with mange, uncurable type, that passed on to all the get. a very sad story, the pup my friend got from them had to be euth at 1 year old,,,,,,,, and sufferd 1/2 of her life.......... ......if we can all produce 100% sound dogs, it would be a god send
HINT  a breeder in texas,,,,, all i will say

In defense of the ProPlan though, I raised my first newf on it and he lived just shy of 14 years with nary a problem.  I have a 3 year old goldie on it now, with no probs. I think perhaps good skin, hips an coat must be a mix of environment, food and genetics. Perhaps what works for one doesn't necessarily work for all?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Maye in your breed it is cut by 80% but i would like to see proof of that, even so, are ALL dogs ofa by your breed?
i doubt it, so how can that number be positivly accurate?
i am just curious how they came to that conclusion.
in our breed it has not been.
and there is no solid anything in breeding or having human babies.
