The restaurant was fun--we're in!  Sasha did learn about people food there, though.  She's still hoping for more... ;D

Is this a closed group?  Cassi likes to go where there's food and dogs to sniff. If invited, where?

There is an open invitation to everyone.  The get together will be November 19th at Huntington Beach.  Here is a link to the Dog Beach:  http://www.dogbeach.org/

Hope to see you and Cassi there.

If Mack and I bring the pack I don't think we will be doing the restaurant.  If I come with Tyra then I will try to join you all.  How's that for a definitive answer?

If it's reassuring at all, the restaurant is outside on picnic tables.  Last time, I think we had 10 giants with us...and it was SO much fun.  The whole pack would be fine, if you are comfortable with it!  We'd hate to leave anybody out!

I hate to rain on everyone's parade regarding Huntington Beach, but I'd like to STRONGLY request we move this event to the Long Beach dog beach....

Here's why:  So far, in southern california, Orange County is by far leading the way with dog influenza cases (more than 100).  Next is Los Angeles with 4 cases in Inglewood which originated in Orange County (according to my vet who is also located in Inglewood).  Orange County is the only nearby county with confirmed kennel closures and one vet with 80+ reported cases.

So, Long Beach may be a little further North (about 15 miles) from Huntington, but it also isn't in the center of an area that is most likely to expose all our dogs.  I know there's no way to totally avoid possible exposure, especially at a public dog area, but why choose the highest risk area?

Just my two cents...

WOW....I had no idea it was that bad here in southern California.  For me I don't think the short distance between Huntington and Long Beach is enough to ease my mind.  I think we will have to cancel our plans to attend.  There is just no way I am willing to chance it.

Well, POOP!!!  I hate to think that we are all going to have to worry about this, but I guess we do.  Cowboy's breeder called me a couple of weeks ago and strongly suggested that I keep the dogs away from all places where dogs gather:  dog parks, dog shows, etc.  They could play with dogs that we knew but she thinks the risk is just too great.  Well, I know you guys, so we could try meeting where there aren't so many dogs.  There's a small dog park in San Pedro that is empty most of the time.  We could do that and have a picnic there.....

.....it's just a thought! :)

I'm so sad now.   :( I was all excited about next weekend. Maybe we could do it in Santa Barbara then with the same doggies as last time??

I could do Santa Barbara another time but I have the entire family coming for dinner on the 19th (the pre-Thanksgiving festivities for all those who can't be here on Thanksgiving) so our visit was going to have to be short anyway.

It makes me so sad that we have to worry about our pups getting such bad diseases!!!  WELL, POOPY-PANTS!!!  (That's as far as I'm going with swear words!!!  :-X)
