Music for a Friday
« on: November 10, 2005, 04:13:44 pm »
OK, folks, totally off-topic here, but it could be fun!

Friday's at work are generally slow and quiet, so I amuse myself by listening to music.  However, I forgot my iPod at home, so I can't torture anyone by playing zydeco and Ozomatli at loud volumes.  So, suggest a BPO playlist for me...

Name your favorite song, or just the one that you can't get out of your head recently, and I will see if it is on iTunes.  If it is, and I download it, I can listen to everyone's favorite music today!

One of my favorite songs of all time is "History Repeating" by the propellorheads featuring Shirley Bassey.

My favorite CD of all time is Change by the Dismemberment Plan. You can listen to it free on realplayer through a link at http://www.dismembermentplan.com/

Hmm, don't really have favorites, but the ones that have been stuck in my head the past two days are:

all the oompa loompa songs from Charlie & the Chocolate Factory
Photograph by Nickelback
and Daughters of Feminists by Barbara Bailey Hutchinson

I'm not really a feminist, but such a tomboy and Tori is SUCH a princess wannabe  LOL

On Fridays, I always like to hear "Friday I'm in Love" by The Cure.  It just sums the week up perfectly....  that is unless you work on the Weekends, then it doesn't really mean much.  You can listen to a sample of this song at:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000002HAJ/qid=1131742743/sr=1-8/ref=sr_1_8/102-2127241-3240937?v=glance&s=music

Just scroll down and it's the 7th song, click on your preferred media player and there you go.  Any album from Ween is always nice to listen to as well on Fridays, they just play nice, silly and catchy sounding music.

Someone just mentioned The Gorillaz, I think I need to get their new album.  I have heard several of the songs off of it and I like what I hear.

And as for songs that are stuck in my head, all I can say is I hate Kelly Clarkson right now. "Since you've been gone....   ARRRRRGGH!!!!!!!!!

This is excellent stuff, folks, keep it coming!  A lot of these songs, I already know, but haven't heard in so long.  Jenn, excellent choices!  NewfLover - "Friday I'm in Love" is perfect!  Tina, no.  Just no.   ;D

How cheesy is this?  At the online music destination for which I used to work, every Friday at 3:00 PM, my co-worker would play blast from the past "Look Out Weekend" by Debbie Deb, and everyone in our department would all climb up on our desks and dance.   :)

One of my favorites is Get Over It by the eagles, When h*ll Freezes over is the album.
The one line that comes to mind is "I'd like to find your inner child and kick his little A$$"
It's a song that is fitting my current mood, LOL

In the scope of weekend song, that isn't TOO bad.  Think about it this way, you could have been dancing on your desk to Loverboy every Friday ;)
True, I never looked at it that way.  Coulda been the Bay City Rollers, for that matter!

Oh, god.  I'm so old.  I saw the Eagles before they ever broke up.   :'(

This is worse.  You know what's stuck in my head?  Can't get rid of it?

Dean Martin.  "...like the fella once said/Ain't that a kick in the head?...The room was completely black/I hugged her and she hugged back..."

Damned TV commercials.  It's driving me mad, I tell you, MAD!

I'm not really into Nickelback but they make catchy songs, like "Are We Havin' Fun Yet".  They are the first Canadian band to be #1 on the Billboard Top 100.  Creed's "With Legs Wide Open" is not quite as catchy as "Can You Take Me Higher".  ;D
