Happy Turkey Day!
« on: November 22, 2005, 05:15:29 pm »
Well...it's almost time to go home and relax.  Tomorrow is a big day full of too many relatives all of whom brought something to put on the dinner table.  You certainly don't want to offend anyone, so you must sample one of everything.
Don't forget your sleds so you can cart yourself to the car for the long drive home with zippers undone and shoes untied.  You can't fit into anything for the next 3 weeks and your dog won't stop licking your face and sticking his/her head down your shirt since there are leftovers down there somewhere since you ran out of room in your stomach and mouth to put the food on your plate.  :)  (wow that was one long sentence.  someone's going to get on my case about that. :) )
So...go ...go home and enjoy.  Though we complain about it till Christmas dinner is over and digested...we LOVE it.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Lins! This is the first time I'm hosting Thanksgiving for my family. Already spent way too much money and probably will have left overs until Christmas. Plus I have to get up at 5am to start the turkey. Hopefully it will be fun!

Relax?? I wish! I'm cooking my first turkey tomorrow and I've been cleaning for two days!! I can't wait until it's over! Hopefully everything will turn out good! Does anyone slow cook their turkey? I wanted to slow cook mine at 300 degrees but I don't know how long it would take to cook a 21 lb turkey?

Anyway, Happy Thankgiving to you too Lins, and everyone else!!  ;D

I have my best luck slow cooking at 350 degrees in a bag.  My grandmother taught me to cover the turkey in bacon strips makes it very very moist, then the bacon is crunchy when done and can be used in the gravy.  It is excellent.  Good luck with your turkey!  I just stressed out over my pumpkin pies!  I usually boil down pie pumpkins, the small ones, but hubby grew big ones this year and I baked them instead to get the pulp, I did not think they would set up, extra hour in the oven and DONE!  We will have to eat one for breakfast so I am sure not any stringy pumpkin in there....Remin d me to cook what I know how to do!

Happy Thanksgiving!  May your turkeys be plump and juicy and may your pie be drool inducingly moist.  May your football teams of choice win, and may your naps be long and restful.

I love you guys!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!  Cowboy and Chester were up at 5:00am (so, of course was I ::)) so the day is going to be long one...

Hope your drive is traffic-free,  that all the relatives get along, and the dogs behave!   You are all the best!
