nightly behavior
« on: November 27, 2005, 02:45:54 pm »
I have a 5 month old Mastiff and he is great. The one thing that I am concerned with is that at night he will sit in his cage and pant like he is hot. We leave the room open at night and the vent in the room is covered by another dog cage. The cage that we have him in is large enough to fit him when he is full grown so there is plenty of room. I am not sure if this is typical behavior or not. I would like to put a bowl of water in there with him but still in the process house breaking and he is still very clumsy. Does anyone with a Mastiff have any suggestions or ideas? I would appreciate any feeback.

We put a fan on our Newf, Bava, when he did this, and he is a lot more comfortable now.

Do you have a wire of a plastic crate.  If the crate is plasitc I bet the dog is warm but the wire ones shouldnt be an issue..my dogs always pant LOL
