Endangered Species Act in trouble
« on: December 16, 2005, 08:49:03 pm »
I just received this email from a friend of mine.  Please consider signing the petition, as it will affect us all if this bill goes into affect.

https://secure2.convio.net/dow/site/Advocacy?JServSessionIdr005=77rl202am2.app25a&page=ActionAlertTakenPage&id=249

Be sure to copy the above address in your browser with no space
between the ? and the JServ section. This is important. They still
need everyone's votes and everyone's votes count, so please sign the
petition. They have a long way to go to receive 50,000 actions. With
all of your help and those of friends I hope that they can make it.
You all know that I'm a strong supporter of these sorts of things by
helping in my own way especially with the manatees, but all wildlife
is affected by this new bill that will essentially 'gut' the
Endangered Species Act. Please act now to help. Sorry for the mass
e-mail, but they need everyone's help quickly.

If any of you have enjoyed seeing Bald Eagles make a comeback and
seeing them in the wild in places where they hadn't been seen in
some time or some other animal while growing up that has been helped
by the ESA, then make sure that future generations will also be able
to enjoy these animals in the wild.

The Bald Eagles are something that I have had the pleasure to watch in the wild both in Virginia and here in California.

This picture was taken on Jamestown Island.

Cindy

Sorry for the crappy pic but it was taken with my very first digital.  The blob of twigs below and to the left is the nest.  If you have never seen eagles in the wild I highly suggest that you research if they are in your area.  They truly are incredible to watch.

I have some more pictures that were taken with a 35 mm that I will have to find and scan.

That actually is a pretty good pic.  I've seen several bald eagles when driving thru MN and also at my aunts house in MN, but I've never had a camera on me at the time.
