There's a pyr at our shelter! Can you believe it??
« on: January 04, 2006, 01:43:21 pm »
Our little town shelter has a great pyrenees - well, had - he's not in foster care. he is an adult, good with small children. That's all I know, but I'm in the process of getting more info. I don't know if he was a stray or owner turn in, but I've only seen 2 or 3 pyrs in the Houma area at our events before.

Anyone interested? I can definitely set up transport.

Aaaaawwwwwwwww ...He reminds me of my Sammy Whammy!...I hope he gets an awesome home!...I had my 1st encounter with Great Pyrs in our local shelter...Her name was Daisy & I was hooked...At that time I had no room for a dog but evidently she left an indelible impression on me!

Jeanne,

Isn't he in Houma, LA?  If Mark were interested and April not could you get him to WA?

YUP. he's in Houma, Louisiana. Turns out he is heartworm positive  :( but they are having him treated  ;D. He is a pyr mix, although you can't tell it from the picture, can you? He is about chow or golden retriever sized. The vet said he should be 60 lbs, but he is only 46 lbs. Poor guy. He was a stray, in the shelter for "quite some time" which means they took a liking to him 'cause he should have been put down after 5 days.

He has been neutered and vaccinated. April has talked to his foster parents. There is another family coming to look at him today. If they don't work out, April is next in line. She said she doesn't mind that he's a mix, as long as he is "white and fluffy"!

Keep your fingers crossed for Gumbo and April. If it doesn't work out, it just means there is another dog out there that needs her more.
