Monogramed Dog Beds for Fundraiser
« on: January 11, 2006, 09:18:27 pm »
I need to raise money for one of my fosters so he can have surgery on his back legs.  So I came up with the idea to sell monogramed Koolaroo dog beds on Ebay.  Go to my photo album and tell me if you think they'll sell.

Thanks!

Realized I had forgotten to post the link.  Here it is:
http://photos.yahoo.com/hmm_gfx

I haven't figured out how much to sell them for yet.  The plain ones that are on Ebay now, wouldn't turn a profit for me.  And I need profit for Sunney's surgery.  (His picture and bio are at http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/TX122.html)

Maybe you guys could help me decide on a starting price on Ebay??

I have small, medium and large.  The monogram can be up to 2" tall and as many as 8 characters.

I am not sure what to ask for one.  I would get one on ebay, but the shipping charges are through the roof. Yours are quite nice though and I would love one for Atticus.

I'll save one for you!  Large, I'm sure!  I think a lot of sellers on Ebay make money off shipping charges.  Whenever I buy anything on there, I ALWAYS take shipping into account.  An item can be a steal for $10, unless of course shipping is $60!

Now to figure out how much to charge...

Those are awesome!  I've been on ebay and bought something and then they charge just as much as the price of the bid.  THEN you get it and the shipping is 83 cents.  Always makes me so mad...so now I check to see how much shipping is and the feedback of the seller before buying anything.  You can look at ebay and see if you can find beds similar to the ones you're going to sell and see what they are asking.  If your price is a little lower and your shipping is lower they'll ship before the others. :)  Just my opinon.

They have Koolaroo dog beds on Ebay - just not monogrammed.  Unfortunately, many of them have a starting price of a penny!  That's probably why their shipping is so high, to make sure they get their money back.  I can't afford to sell these for a penny!

I'll come up with something and when I get ready to sell them on Ebay, I'll let you guys know.

Definitley let us know, we're looking for a bed for Maggie now.  Those beds look really nice, how big is the large one?  I need it for a growing Dane. :)

Excellent ideal.  I would buy one or two direct from you if that nets you more dough.

Wow, you guys are great!  I hadn't thought about selling them directly on here.  Let me check the BigPawsOnly rules to be sure that's not violating anything.

Here's a link to the Coolaroo beds that gives the dimensions.

Darn!  I only have 3 of the large beds, about 6 of the medium and about 6 of the small.  If Big Paws Only gives the okay, I'll take some orders and see if I can't hunt down some more of the large beds.

I'd be interested in seeing how much you would charge for the medium beds. I need a couple for the "outsiders" and those look perfect!

Helen,

Of course you can advertise your growing business here.

Tina

Thanks!  It's not a business though.  Just something I thought of to raise money for my foster Sunney so he can have surgery on his back legs.

Put a reserve of the absolute minimum you would accept.

Okay, how does this sound for prices for the monogrammed dog beds?
$55 for large + shipping
$45 for medium + shipping
$35 for small + shipping

Feedback welcome!

And shipping is the actual cost of shipping, not some inflated figure that is charged on so many Ebay items.  Anyone know if UPS, Post Office or FedX has better prices?

Okay.  I managed to get 2 more of the large Coolaroo dog beds today.  So this is what I have:

5 Large (51.1" x 31.5") - $55 each shipping
6 Medium (43.4" x 25.6") - $45 each+shipping
6 Small (35.5" x 21.6") - $35 each+shipping

Monograms are up to 2" high and up to 8 letters.  The colors in the pictures are pale pink and royal blue.  White would also show up well.

Any orders???  Remember, everything goes towards Sunney's surgery.
