Just heard from his owner Eric...
Sad story, little boy(2) has developed severe allergies to the dog. :'(
They live about 15 min. from me. He will call me after work tonight & bring him by to meet Sampson.
He's 2yr, but still intact - should I have any concerns if Sam's snipped? ???
Give me some advice here, please...
-k.

I'd just be careful with the introduction. Make it happen on neutral turf somewhere, and if you do end up bringing him home you might want to keep them separated for a little while to get used to each others presence in the house. Then gradually bring them together, and get that guy neutered ASAP! ;)

Wow, good luck.  I would see about getting him nuetered before bringing him into you home.  I know my male who has been nuetered since a pup gets territorial with unnuetered males.  Plus, the new guy might decide to mark your house as his own.  I agree about meeting nuetral territory.
Thanks,

What about a place like Petsmart - do you think that would work? It's pretty neutral - isn't it?
I think I agree on the snip prior to moving in...

Oh Kristy, I sure hope it works out tonight, and you can give him a home.  I emailed the guy too, and pressed the issue that these big paws just aren't for everyone, and that for someone unexperienced, the novelty of having a 170 pound dog could wear off.  It sounds like he took it to heart; I'm so glad!

I think somewhere outside would be better, someplace without too many distractions. Is it possible to introduce them at a park?

There was a post, that had a pic of the same dog and said, "Need to rehome our English Mastiff". So, I thought that was strange, considering that you were going to meet the dog, and I bumped this post so that it would be near the new one with the pic of Otis. It just seemed strange to me. Anyway, so that's why.  ;D
