We have the Canon ZR-100.  We got it at Best Buy right after Christmas for i think $260 $240.  It is real simple but i love it.  Has firewire to connect to my mac (or pc) for editing and some great cheesy effects.  It has an amazing optical zoom. i think it's the best bang for the buck.  We have about 2 hours of our hounds running around and I'm currently editing it down right now for a home video to post on youtube.com in the near future.  The camera is small, light weight and extremely user-friendly.  i recommend it!
