Martingale Collar Question
« on: March 17, 2006, 08:57:54 am »
Greetings Y'all!

I just tested out a martingale/chain training collar on my two STRONG walkers who both did pretty well, esp. my boy Blu .... after a few minutes of walking, he trotted happily at my side... I was soooo proud of him, I told him so for the ENTIRE walk... lol

My question is...

I am not sure how the collar is suppose to fit. Loose? snug?

Does anyone have experience with these?

Thanks,
Rachel

I need to get me 2 of those. I hate using the choker on Kiah. It alwasys gets tangled in her fur. Where did you get it?

I bought it at a store in Buffalo, NY - when I was home for Christmas.... but am just now getting around to using it (bad mommy)... lol

The collar is made by ruffwear. You can order it online at
www.ruffwear.c om

It is called the "Chain Reaction Collar."

Thanks for your input... I hadn't realized there were so many types of collars.

I truly learn something every day on BPO!  :)

I made my 3 martingales and the collar part "fits" when the choker is pulled and it's fairly loose if they are relaxed.  I don't like walking mine on a regular choker cause they pull too much at the beginning of the walk and then choke themselves.  Oh, and my collar parts are 2" wide with a 1" choker part so if and when they pull they don't hurt themselves.

thanks for the info... It really helps! And it confirms that Blu's collar was too loose!

Did you say that you MADE the collars for your pups? I am impressed!

Yeah, I make them and sell them.  I'd take pics of mine and post but they're filthy and I'd rather you saw a nice one.  Dixie is supposed to take a pic of hers to share.  Keep in mind when you see it that the ones for sale are adjustable.  Hers and mine aren't since I had a brain fart and forgot to order slides.  I haven't been able to order any hardware so I haven't had any for sale lately...  :-[  I will soon though...And they can be with or without leashes attached... With is $15 and w/out is $13.  Depends on how you like your's done.
