Austria Lawmaker Wants to ID Dog Droppings
« on: May 26, 2005, 07:56:53 pm »
Now this I would almost have to agree with...

The jist of the story here is that a Vienna politician wants to curb dog poop in the city by registering all of the city's dogs' DNA so that they match poop on the street to the offending dog and their owner. It obviously must be pretty bad there for it to get to that point but I kind of have to agree. Sure if you're in the country, it's considered fertilizer. But on a sidewalk? At the local park? Or my favorite... right in front of my mail box! Come on people... Jaime and I currently live in an apartment and damn there are some rude people here. Theres nothing worse then stepping in dog scat! For the third time in a week!

Yeah, that is no fun at all, we live on a little dead end street, but that does not mean I dont have other people poop their dogs in MY yard, we dont have the front yard fenced in, and one day when I was polishing the windows (noooo you didnt read it wrong, I actually did that) so I was right in the window facing the front yard, a man came up with a little dog on a leash, the dog went in on my yard and first peed all over my flowers I have around the mailbox, then he went a bit further  in and did a poop, I was expecting the man to get it up, but ha.... he just walked off and let the poop sit there. It is bad enough having to do the pooper scooper after my own dogs, I am not impressed when I have to clean up after other peoples dogs in my yard. So if the problem there is big, I can also see how that would be a good idea, it is sad though, that some people have to make life harder for us dog moms and dads who actually clean up after our babies.

Cleaning up other dogs poop is like wiping some other kids butt...  It's just not cool.  At our old house we had a flat lawn with a sidewalk and people would let their dogs wander into our yard and poo at least 3 times a day!  So, my husband build a retaining wall out of cobblestone that raises our yard up higher so they couldn't do that.  I'm looking out the window one day and some lady is walking her little dog and LIFTS IT UP INTO OUR  YARD!   I was so hacked off that I flung open the door and just stared at her.  She gave me the dirtiest look and then I realized that I forgot to button my shirt after nursing my baby!  Now we are sitting back off the road a bit and our yard is completely private, but if I was walking along the sidewalk and saw dog crap I would be pretty irritated.

YALL NEED TO USE MY METHOD......

WHEN I LIVED AT HOME WITH A YARD, AND I WOULD SEE THE DAMN NEIGHBORS POODLE OR THE OTHER NEIGHBORS COCKERS IN MY YARD, I WOULD GRAB MY BASEBALL BAT AND CHASE THEM HOME...IMAGINE THOSE PEOPLES FACES WHEN THEY SAW ME CHASING THIER DAMN DOGS WITH RAGE IN MY EYES (PS, I WOULD NEVER HURT A DOG)

I HAVE 2 OTHER FAVORITES..... .#1-I WOULD PICK UP THE POOP IN A BIG BAG, AND TIE IT TO THE DOGS COLLAR AND SEND THEM HOME AFTER A HAND FULL OF TREATS LOL (BOYS DOES THAT ONE PISS OFF THE NEIGHBORS.....#2-I PICK UP THE POOP AND THROW IT ON THEIR DRIVEWAY.

NOW I KNOW I SOUND RUDE.....BUT I GOT ALONG WITH THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD EXCEPT THESE TWO FAMILIES WHO I SHIT YOU NOT, TAUGHT THEIR DOGS TO CRAP IN MY YARD.....

NOT OKAY WITH ME.

i now live in an apartment, and have to pick up other peoples dog crap so my retard doesn't step in it.  angus is like, ohhhhh poop, gotta step in it so mom has to wash my feet for the 100th time today!

hahahaha that is priceless NatsaintB, I can picture you wild eyed and open shirt hehehe, lucky you it was not a male dog owner, Now I can see the good side of having bottlefed my babies lol....

nicker, love the tie it to the collar thing  ;D and I now fully understand the "angus synderome" Galahad has twice today, pooped and then turned around and stepped right into it on his way to the door again. I usually dont pick it up straight away, since they do their thing in my yard, I do the pooper scooper once a day. But tomorrow I will bring the thing with me every time, because it is just not fun to see it creep up between his toes and then having to try and clean it.

Nick, I'm starting to see the similarities in you and Angus!  Gotta say, the boy comes by it honest!  How many bottles of wine so far?  I'm still waiting for hubby to come back from his brothers and bring me my drink...

I love the ideas that have been suggested here. Our old next door neighbor would let his boxer out to relieve himself, and everytime it would be in our little driveway. We saw this happen countless times, and several little gifts daily would be in our driveway. Our back yard is fenced, so neither of our dogs would possibly able to get out there and be the culprits. Even if they had my two weigh 50 and 180 lbs, and his boxer was about 80lbs. When we asked him several times to just clean it up (we didn't care if that was his dogs fav place to go) he informed us that it wasn't his, it had to be our dogs. Even our landlord talked to him about it, and he still wouldn't stop it. So then my BF took matters into his own hands. We gathered Hutch's poo and deposited it the amount of times a day we found 'presents' in our driveway directley on his doorstep. Let me tell you- In two days it ended very quickly!!

This post is my pet peeve. Because of the dogs I really don't have much of a nice back yard so I really try to keep the front nice. I used to have a woman down the block that would let her golden dump in my front yard every evening on their walk. I waited inside the house with Merlin on a leash until they had made their usual deposit and strolled away, and we shot outside and started to follow. We only went about two houses down and I hollered up at her "Hey! Are we there yet??" She turned around and was all confused so I told her we wanted to get to her house because  we wanted to return her lovely gift in kind, and after Merlin I'm sure the other two dogs needed to go as well..... I figured about a two week period of three piles a day should about equal in tonnage the amount of her dog's poop I've cleaned up. I then gave her a plastic bag and escorted her back so she could clean it up.--It might have helped that Merlin took a dislike to her golden and spent most of his time growling with his hackels in the air. Oddly enough she changed her walk route...I'm sure she is allowing her dog to deposit in someone elses lawn now. At least it's not mine.

Good for you Stella!  Most of the time I see people walking their dogs with a plastic bag bag or some sort of pooper scooper, but when I don't I just gotta shake my head.  Picking up your own dogs poop is COOL 8) :P!  If you don't do it you are just plain out of it!

Honestly, I don't know where people get off letting their dogs poop wherever they damn well please!  I took Ranger for a walk yesterday around the neighborhood lake and there was freaking dog poo RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PATH.  It is bad enough I've got to combat puppy curiosity with goose poo, now somebody let their dog freaking poop right in the middle of the path.  I think I set a freaking world record for using the "Leave It" command yesterday.  The best though...in a very bad way...was when I was standing at the bottom of my driveway chatting with some neighbors and Ranger was sitting at my feet, just relaxing.  Now, most of my neighbors are GREAT,  we are all close, and since we are in a cul-de-sac, we'll let the dogs off leash to run around under our supervision.  Well, one neighbor, who shall remain nameless, let her Jack Russell not only bark his head off at Ranger (who looked at the JR like it was on crack) but poop in my flowers RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.  So, I asked if she had a bag to get it...she looked at me like I was on crack, said no.  So, I said no problem, I'll go get you one.  Ran in the house and handed it to her.  SHE HAD NO INTENTION OF CLEANING IT UP.  What is the deal?!?!

Okay...done venting...for now....

Wow you people are funny.  ;D  This is why I live in the country where, as said, it is considered fertilizer.  My neighbors are at least an acre or two away so we get along pretty much.  The point I have is this:  How could the government register each dog by his DNA so that if one poops on your property, you could take it down and have it matched so that you could throw it at the right person.  Is this Big Brother hidden as "Big Pooper".   ???  Is the the future for America  ???
