So the other night I was watching TV and Sophie was upstairs sleeping. I hear her starting rustle around and before I know it she comes pounding down the stairs and is whining and pacing in front of the door. I think "Oh my god! She is giving me a clear signal that she needs to go out! YES!" Ok let me back up just a little bit... Sophie has never given us a signal that she needs to go out... she doesn't look or stand at the door, whine, nothing! So we just take her out when we think she might have to go and she has never messed in the house while we're home.
So back to the story... I jump off the couch and tell her "Oh what a good girl for telling mommy you need to go out!! You are such a good girl" I throw my coat on, get her leash on a rush out the door. To my suprise she dashes out the door and across the yard (we use a 26 ft Flexi leash so she has room to run around outside) nearly pulling me down. AND you wouldnt believe it!! What did I see out of the corner of my eye! The damn neighbors cat on our driveway!! who is now meandering back to his yard and Sophie is going nuts (she really wants to kill him... I wouldn't doubt it if one day she gets him... not looking foward to that day) and I am bracing myself against the porch rails. Finally I get her to settle down and we go back in...
I can't believe she tricked me! She must have seen the cat out the bedroom window. So now I have to remember that running down the stairs and whining at the door does not mean its potty time it means its kill the cat time...
