Kali needs some fingers and paws crossed
« on: March 29, 2006, 03:02:49 pm »
Kali's been sore for the past week and has been losing interest in her food.  So she's going to the vet tomorrow for a Lyme test and xrays of her hips.  I'm not sure if her noninterest is just the fact she may be bored with her food or an indication of Lyme or other problems.  We may be switching her food in the near future.  Her hips could be growth related or from horsing around. But the power of BPO has been shown before so can everyone send good thoughts her way?

Poor puppy.  Hope you feel better soon and it's nothing serious.

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts...I hope she's just being fussy about her food and that her hips are just from overdoing it and not from dysplasia or Lyme.  But we're going to look into other foods....lucki ly after tomorrow we'll know for sure right away and as soon as I get the results I'll post them.

Is she limping??
She has been limping for the past week off and on especially after playing, and is just sore mainly...caref ul how she lies down.

HOw about making a gravy to put on her food?
We've been putting Iams gravy on her food but even with that she's been snubbing it.  Usually she doesn't eat all her breakfast but usually she scoffs down dinner and she hasn't been interested in her dinner unless we add Lacey for competition.

Could her food be stale?
Hmm I'm not sure about that we keep it in a bin and what's in there has been there for about a month-month and a half.  We feed Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy so we get the 40lb bags that take maybe two months to go through...I'm not sure on exact time periods cause we buy when we're getting low.

Have you been adding anything to her food lately? or giving supplements?
We're lucky and she thinks pills are treats and the vitamins she gets are doggy chewables.  And she hasn't gotten anything new recently.

Flynn is sending Kali good TM vibes - he says it'll be especially good as she has a Hindu name as his great, great, great grandma was from Nepal where they worship the goddess Kali. Not quite sure what Libby's doing as she's shaking her head and it sounds like a round of applause!

Good luck at the vets!

We use cream cheese here...Yep I'm well trained!!

Love and Drools to Kali!!!  Have you tried giving her cosequin?  It worked wonders for Cowboy's arthritis...

I've made white rice with plain chicken broth to put on Chester's food and it's like a miracle.  He's always HATED his kibble and now cleans his bowl every meal.  Who knew???

Hoping and praying that the xrays show nothing and she's just tired out from all the playing!

Crossed fingers and paws and the boys are sending buckets of drool to Kali to get well!!!

Well we gave her some Rimadyl and she's back to playing like a maniac but to be on the safe side she's getting xrays of everything.... luckily we get them at cost because my mom works there.  But she ate her dinner tonight (no breakfast), I guess she got tired of the slight hunger strike ::), but we're definitely considering switching her food or doing the additives to make it more appealing and giving her more supplements.
