I got muddled....
« on: April 18, 2006, 10:56:19 pm »
....and read the wrong book for this months Book Club, but what a fortunate mistake.  I read The Dogs of Bedlam Farm by Jon Katz.  HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended.  It's not just he adventure he has working with his border collies and herding sheep.  It's about the philosphy of loving dogs and why we do.  The story of his sister with her Newfoundlands was heart wrenching but image his border collie trying to herd them "like trying to herd sofas" was hysterical.

Please consider this for your next read. ;)

The book sounds great Mari. And the thought of Newfies being "herded" makes my giggle!  :D

What newfs aren't big black sheep?  According to Lacey they are and humans are pink sheep!  And what's funnier is that Kali can now outherd the aussie in her puppy class cause Lacey taught her well. :D

Kali ~ the newf
Lacey ~ the aussie
Gabby ~ Holsteiner mare
Fire ~ Appendix Quarter Horse/Belgian gelding

My sister read it and absolutely loved it!  She said some of the sayings in there are a riot!  She was given the book by a a friend because my sister is just recently getting back into horses and he thought she would enjoy reading it.  I will have to read it next!
