**UPDATE** Sampson is having surgery today

I just wanted all of you to know that Sampson is having surgery this morning.

They will be removing some bone from his spine to free the nerve that is being compressed between the bone and the disk.  They will also remove the tumor from his leg.  The doctor is confident that he will make a full recovery and that this will take away the pain that he is experiencing.

I will post an update as soon as I hear from the surgeon.
They said he will be in the hospital until Monday.

Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts and well wishes... 
BPO is the best extended family I could have hoped for.

As of 2:45p.m. CST...
They took him in later than expected - there was an emergency surgery that came in - so there is no word yet as to his status.

I hate waiting... :-\

Wow, hang in there, I know you must be feeling very tense right now. I am keeping you and your big guy in my thoughts, hoping the surgery goes smoothly and makes Sampson feel much better.

Sampson is doing fine!

I went to the animal hospital tonight to see him at about 9:00p.m. CST  They said he was awake but very, very groggy.  He picked up his head & wagged his tail when he saw me!  (I don't know how they got him into that cage - he barely fits!)  He was seriously doped up, but definitely knew I was there.

The surgeon said the disk in the affected area was severly bulging - it was a wonder that he was able to move as well as he did & that he didn't "complain" more.  He was very happy with the outcome of the procedure.

I will go visit him again tomorrow, because they said I could! ;) ...And I will tell him that everyone is wishing him well.
