3 Terrified Pyrs in Kill Pound
« on: April 20, 2006, 01:03:45 am »
These 3 pyrs were purchased by people that thought they would breed them and get rich. They let them run wild with livestock and threw food to them over the fence. These dogs are scared to death of humans. The people decided the dogs were too much trouble and too hard to take care of so they dumped them at the pound, knowing full well they would not be adopted and would be killed.

Picture of 2 of the 3 here in the Pyr album:

The female is solid white and not shown in the pic.

They are at the Morehead, KY Pound, 606-784-4930

We can buy them a little time if someone can commit to taking them on. They are intact and I fear they will either wind up as breeders or killed because they are not social.

One male is guarding and will put himself in front of the other 2 and growl. He does not lunge or seem threatening, just really, really scared and protective of the other 2. We think they are all about 9 months old.

Larry spent some time with them yesterday and feels if they are in competent and kind hands they will come around.

I really am beginning to like fewer and fewer people. Stories like this make me sick. Those people should be punished.

Julie- Rottie
Steve- Pug/Jack Russel

UPDATE: Might, just might have rescue willing to take dogs...will know more Monday

Thanks for caring...it IS terribly sad. Big dogs do not ever get adopted here.
It's very upsetting because there are BYB's everywhere and you see the for sale notes all over town. Then you go to the pound and see the big dogs and it breaks your heart.
If anyone knows of a rescue or re-habber that might be close enough to eastern KY to help, please pass their story on...we can figure out short transports. Julia
