Thanks for posting these dogs who are in need. :) I have learned that by spreading the word, you really can make a difference for the animals. Everyone should realize that there are ALWAYS purebred dogs in need of homes, and just about any breed can be found in rescue. So many homeless dogs and not nearly enough good homes!!! :'(

Keep up the postings!!!! :) :-*

I would have room for two of the Pyr pups. They would be trained as LGDs, though, so outdoor dogs. (Many rescues won't re-home to a working home. If they are still pups, it shouldn't be too excessive to fly them cargo up here (Vancouver Island, Canada).

Hi, Marissa!
You're great for posting all of these doggies in need. But, if you don't mind, can I ask where they're all coming from? The same place? Breeders?

Nope, I don't mind you asking at all! After all, I would want to know as well. No, all these dogs are not from the same place. And they are not all from breeders. The only thing they all have in common are the area they are in and that they need good homes. Some of them are rescues that individuals have taken off the streets, cared for, and now they need a home. Some have to be given away because of different reasons that the owner cannot keep them anymore. Some are from breeders who do not want to continue breeding anymore and want homes for their last batch of pups and for the parents sometimes too. And others are from accidental breedings (dog down the road came over here kind of thing). And others may be from breeders as well. It just depends on the dog. I'm unsure of the background on every dog! A lot of them look like their owners can't keep them anymore.

And Maria, let me pm or e-mail you the info on the Pyrs! Thanks for your encouragement everyone in trying to find these dogs homes! Let me know if one catches your eye!

Update on the Pyr pups:

these are not rescue dogs, but a litter available for sale from a small breeder in Carthage, MO (if I understood that correctly). He has 3 females left, asking $150. The pups are 6-7 weeks old. No urgency.

Maria, we have a Newf/Pyr cross here at the local animal control in Chilliwack . He's 6 years old, very sweet. We're not that far from the ferries. Are you interested??

Chilliwack would actually be a manageable distance.

I wouldn't normally have considered a cross with something not LGD, as I am looking for dogs to train for working and you never can tell which way a cross is going to lean, but a Newf cross might actually be just fine. I'll give animal control a call tomorrow morning and see what's what.

I've also put in an application for a Pyr in Salmon Arm, but they told me they had two local applicants as well, so it's not likely I'm going to get him.

Thanks for the heads up!

Maria
