Congrats Lyn. He's beautiful (love those pink toes!).  I'm rotten at naming but like dogs named Capone, Gabriel (Gabe), and Nero.  Also Chester, Miles and Milo.  Good luck - and keep the pics coming!

Welcome to BPO.  You've come to right place for honest, straightforwar d, and educated answers.  I am NEVER disappointed by BPO advice regarding questions put to the Board.  And this is no different... please call a trainer, immediately begin NILIF, and please, please, please don't even consider euthanization.  Good luck and please keep us posted!  Oh - names and pics are most welcome.  :)

Meet & Greet BPOers / Re: does anyone go to elm bank in MA?
« on: January 15, 2008, 01:05:07 pm »
I'm about a 1/2 hour from Natick and have heard of the trails in Elm Park, but never been.  Nakita (female saint, 11 years old) and I would be up for a walk and are available on the weekends.  Let me know![/size]

Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: Happy Birthday, bigdogs@5501

Here's a to a great day and a fabulous year. Happy Birthday Paige! :)

Both Bear and Nakita sleep in our room and, if invited, on the bed. We upgraded to a king just for this purpose. :) Nakita will stay on the bed all night, between us or at my feet. Bear usually gets down after a while and sleeps on a futon mattress we have on our bedroom floor, I think because he gets hot. In general, they want to be where we are, period. And, as they were chained outside before being rescued, we think they should be able to be where they're comfortable.  We just make sure it's within reason and maintaining the pack order.

Medical Conditions & Diseases / Re: How much does your big paw weigh?
« on: January 09, 2008, 07:37:53 pm »
Nakita (female) is 11 and maintains a svelt 101. :D Bear (male) is 5 and was 168 in October. Both saints.

We use the vet scale for weighing, but you'd think it was the black hole of death the way they act around it.  ::)

Great Pyrenees Discussions / Re: Mad lips?
« on: January 09, 2008, 07:21:17 pm »
Nakita constantly gets her lips all caught under and around themselves but especially, it seems, when she's REALLY serious. ;D  She's also all squeaky and moany between big barks. Like she's talking to herself, trying to find the right words before she lets me have it.  Makes me laugh every time.  The poor girl gets no respect.  ;) And Bear does the huff and puff when he's gearing up for a "woo woo woo", which I can totally NOT resist. LOVE IT! :)

Tina - I totally agree.

Paige - Amen!

We do as much as we can with what we have and hope it makes some difference. I KNOW most BPO-ers have made a HUGE difference to many dogs. Let's keep this loving and generous spirit alive and growing!  :)

Great Pyrenees Discussions / Re: Newbie here! New Pics.

Hi, and welcome to BPO!  I have two Saints (male 5yo, female 11yo) and know that you'll find this board extremely friendly and helpful.  :)

Just a quick note: I rescued my guys four years ago and struggled for almost two years to find a food that worked for them.  After trying several high-end brands, we settled on Purina Beneful.  I cringe a bit, knowing it's not the best, but both dogs have good coats, good weight, and good poops (finally).  So learn as much as you can, and follow your instincts for what's best for your pup.  And keep us posted!  :)

Lyn, I'm so sorry for your loss.  Kisses to Peaches for trying to help her friend, to Bubba for being a smart dog, and to you in this sad time.  :'(   :-*
