« on: October 26, 2005, 10:54:24 pm »
Hi,
My 8 mo old Saint, Bailey, has really dry flakey skin right now.  What should I do for her?  Is there something to help this or make it go away?  Thanks!

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Go Figure!!!
« on: June 20, 2005, 07:09:16 am »
Hey, Everyone,
I have not been on much lately!  It is summer and that means ball games and track meets.  This past weekend we went to Marshalltown, IA to watch our 9yo daughter participate in the state Hershey Track Meet.  She got 3rd place in the state in the 100M dash!  She raced against about 60 other girls!  (SOrry proud momma)  Anyways, the point of my whole story...We brought Bailey out to some friends of ours who live on an acreage while we were gone.  As some of you know we have had a hard time finding a food she will eat.  She was eating Eagle Pack if we added a little chicken broth to it, and we were planning to eventually wean out the broth.  Our friends feed their dogs Purina Dog Chow.  Bailey would not touch her food all weekend, but snarfed down the Dog Chow like she had never ate anything in her life!!!!  So I guess it is Dog Chow :)
So much for spending money on good food, but if she eats it I am glad and it's worth it!!

« on: May 30, 2005, 08:11:35 am »
I thought since we have now seen each other and our fur babies maybe it was time to post some pictures of the human ones.  Here's the picture I took of my kids for our Christmas card this year.  Next year we will have to add Bailey to the picture!

Hey, Everyone,
I was just wondering how much work it would be to get a chat room up and running???  I was reading some of the post from the last few days, and was thinking it would be a lot of fun to just chat sometimes??  I know nothing of running a website, but just a suggestion!

Saint Bernard Pictures / Bailey's New Friend, Scooby
« on: May 28, 2005, 07:33:23 am »
Hi, Everyone,
Last night one of my husband's co-workers came over and brought his 10wk old Great Dane Puppy, Scooby.  He and Bailey played for 5 hours straight. It was so fun to watch them together!  It just reinforced the fact that I want another puppy :)  Here are some picutures!

Hi, Everyone,
The last week Bailey has been a little snappy when we correct her.  She has been doing really well, but if I correct her for biting on my kid's clothes she will snap at me a few times and bark.  She doesn't bite at me, she just backs up and snaps a few times and then settles down.  I correct her biting the kids clothes by holding her mouth shut and telliing her no, but that really is not working.  She loves the squirt bottle, so that won't work with her.  Anyone have any other ideas how to show her this is not acceptable behavior?  We are going to start obedience classes at the end of the month, but any suggestions until then would be appreciated.  She is 14 weeks.  Thanks,

Saint Bernard Pictures / I think Bailey was posing :)

As soon as I go the camera out yesterday, Bailey started doing all these cute looks.  I am beginning to think she is in love with the camera just like my four year old :)  Thought I would share them.

Hi, Everyone,
Bailey my 12 week old Saint is doing wonderful in most training areas except one.  She balks when we try to take her for a walk on the leash.  She has had the leash on outside when I take her potty, but as soon as we try to go for a walk, she plops her butt down and refuses to go.  I have tried everything.  We have tried treats and praise, but she still will not move. I have tried just pulling her for a little ways, and sometimes she will go and then be fine, but sometimes she still just refuses.  Any good ideas?  It is hard to get in some exercise each day, when walking her is such a struggle :)

I just wanted to put the word out that there are 6 Newfie/Saint mix puppies at the Humane Society in Sioux Fall, SD.  They are soooo beautiful.  I was hoping by putting the word out here, they would be adopted into a loving home.  Here's the link:

Saint Bernard General Discussions / New here, What a great Forum :)
« on: April 25, 2005, 08:20:39 am »
Hi,
I have been reading post for a few days, but have decided to introduce myself.  I am a SAHM of four, dd 9 (almost 10), ds 7, dd 4 and ds 2 (almost 3).  We recently got a Saint puppy named Bailey.  She has been such a wonderful addition to our family.  My husband was not too excited about getting a dog, but now he loves her as much as the rest of the family.  She is such a fun, goofy pup.  We love to watch her "bound" around the house after the kids.  I am so glad to find this site, as I am new to the Saint breed.  I am sure I will post with lots of questions, so be prepared.

I was reading the post about drool, and was curious when I would start wearing it with my clothing?  She does not drool at all, yet, except maybe a little after she drinks?  Does this usually start when they are older?  Also, I was wondering what age they start loosing their puppy coat.  Bailey is 11 weeks, now.  She has learned sit, shake, and down.  We are working on come and stay.  We will start obedience classes the end of May.  Any other suggestions about this breed would be wonderful!  I can't wait to get to know all of you :)
