Newfoundland Discussions / Re: molly long legs

I have to agree puppyhood goes so fast. One minute you're carrying them around the house and the next minute they're carrying you hahaha. Enjoy it all while you can and take loads of photos because with Jaspa our first newfie we never had a working camera so we have very little photos of him as a puppy which is something that i regret now.

Thanx for your replies that's really helped. Your landseer newf molly looks exactly like Murphy except he's black and white so i guess that clears that up. What a relief! Thanc once again.

Newfoundland Discussions / Is my landseer newf normal?
« on: August 02, 2007, 01:26:44 am »
Hiya, Murphy my landseer newfie is 6mnths now but looks nothing like Jaspa my 2yr old black newfie did. Jaspa has always been really fat and really fluffy but Murphy is really long bodied with long legs and his coat isn't very fluffy at all. As this is my first landseer i just wondered if he was growing normally. When i look at photos on this site of other landseer newfs they all look really full coated and fluffy but Murphy's hair is very shoet and slightly wavy. Am i just being dumb?

Food Discussion & Information / best dog food for newfies
« on: August 02, 2007, 01:14:58 am »
Hiya, I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of the best complete dogfood to feed my 2 newfies. At the moment they're on purina beta but i've been hearing a few bad things about its supposed high sugar content. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanx  ???

Newfoundland Pictures / Murphy's finally home
« on: March 14, 2007, 10:31:18 am »
Hiya everyone,
we finally picked Murphy up on the 1st of this month and he's even more gorgeous in real life (i'd only seen photos of him). He's settled in well with Jaspa (my 2yr old newf) and Tiny (my lil cross). The only problem i'm having is with his food. He just picks all of the meat out of it and leaves the biscuits which are the most important part. I've tried putting a little gravy in with it and leaving the meat out so that he has no choice but still he refuses to eat them. I think maybe he's just being stubborn because he'll eat everything else that we give him. He's eaten the biscuits before and if i leave them down long enough he'll eventually get around to eating some of them but i don't want to have to leave his food down for too long otherwise the others eat it instead. Any suggestions? Anyway here are some pics of him and Jaspa.

Your newfies are absolutely gorgeous. I'm going to be fetching my first landseer puppy home on 1st March and i just hope that he grows up to look as stunning as yours. Thanx for the pics. Are the landseer newfs any different from the black ones because i already have a 2yr old black male. Murphy, the landseer pup that we'll be having is mainly white with a black head, black tail and only a few black markings down his right side, his left side is totally white. He's absolutely gorgeous.

Jaspa is a pedigree newf and we have all his papers and we got him from a reputable breeder here in the UK and he has purple/blue markings on his tongue, don't know why though.

Yep i can't wait for the arrival of Murphy which some of my friends can't seem to understand. Once you've got a newfie you can tell which of your friends are the real dog lovers because they're the ones who are willing to get pinned to the couch and covered in drool instead of running out of the house hahaha. Don't you just love doggie slobber hahaha. ;D

Thanks everybody for your advice i'll definately try it. With regards to the last post i'm from the UK and his fear of trucks doesn't extend to him not liking rides out in the car because he loves it. I can walk him past parked cars and moving cars and he has no problems with these it just seems to be the big trucks, although i do have to admit that some of them do come rushing by and really do make quite a loud noise. Also i'll try and post more pics when i figure out how to do it right hahaha. Once again thanx to everyone and i hope to hear more from you all.

Newfoundland Discussions / Scared Newfie
« on: February 19, 2007, 03:02:54 pm »
I'm new to this site so i'm not fully introduced to everyone yet. I've had Jaspa my black newfie since he was a pup and he's now 2yrs old. He's absolutely gorgeous and when he's in the house he's brilliant with me and the rest of our family. If anyone comes inside the house he's a little wary until he's sniffed them out and then he normally settles down and goes for a cuddle from them. However when he's outside on the lead it's a different story. If we walk past anyone who shows any interest in him he really starts to growl but at the same time he's shying away from them. I've tried all kinds of things to get him to calm down but nothing seems to work, also even though we go out walking everyday he's still scared when a truck drives by and he'll try to get as far away from it as he can. Is my baby just a whimp?
