Obed stories I got tons of them.
Alex ran around the ring three times on the recall before doing a perfect front. We didn't have to do sits and downs that day.
The Corndog stoped in the middle of the heeling off leash, because people starting clapping(he thought it was for him).
Agnes (on the recall) ran and jumped over the guy standing in front of the gate. She had a great time running around,we also didn't have to do sits and downs that day.
If you want to be humbled show dogs in Obed.
Elwood will be 1 year old in Nov.I hope to have him in the Obed ring in Jan.and I'm also hoping not to have anymore stories like that for a few more years.
I still get people saying I saw you that day your dog did- ;D
.Hey at least my dogs are having fun(even at my own expence.)

Remembering those no longer with us. / Autumn(tissues alot of them)

Autumn

What do we do when our loving pets face the last leg of the race?
We do all we can to help them finish well,of course.
We take time to read the unspoken needs of the friends we've come to know so well.
We give the simple reasurance of a loving touch when the old boy seems confused for no reason.

We groom them faithfully, but more gently,as age brings muscle wasting, and the arthritic bones aren't so well padded.

We learn to slow down for their sake,as they enjoy the scent of the wind,or track a visitors trail across their yard.

We expect to be inconvenienced, and aren't angry when it happens.

We watch for pain and treat it,watch for changes in vision and hearing and do what we can to help preserve those precious senses for as long as possible.

We take care of teeth, and make sure their food is manageable texture for them.

We remind them of the need for a potty walk when they seem to for get.

We remember the little rewards. we scratch the graying ears and tummy, and go for rides together. When the pet we love has an unexplained need for comfort,we give it freely. When infirmities bring a sense of vulnerabilty, we become our old gardian's protector.

We watch their deepest slumber, when dreams take them running across long-forgotten fields, and we remember those fields too.
When they cannot stand alone,we lift them. When their steps are uncertain,we steady them.

And if their health fails,it falls to us to make the choice that will gently put them to rest. But until that is absolutely necessary,we pause to let the autumn sun warm our old friend's bones. And we realize, autumn is not a bad time of year at all.

Old age is not a disease or reason to give up.It is a stage of life that brings its own changes.Autumn can be a beautful time of harvest.

And, sometimes, the harvest is love.

Thanks everyone.
We are always busy here. There are 8 Rottweilers in the house.2 are 6 months old and are in puppy class.2 are 11 months old and are training for their CD's.1 is 18 months old and has his CD but is still working towards his UCD and Rally titles and does some tracking.Daphn ey is 4.then there is a 6 year old who also has her CD and now we are going for her UCD and Rally titles. Then there is Bradley he is 8 and has a CD and is also going for his UCD and rally titles.
It seems I am always going some place to do something with the dogs.

I have been looking into this mixed breed(not that I wanted one)someone else asked about them so I've been looking into them to see if the people breeding are trying to do something good or just make money.
The problem I have is most of the sites I looked at stated that this breed is free of hip problems.Yet I find no American Mastiffs on the OFA site(there are ladradoodles there but
no AM Mastiffs). This looks bad to me as breeders should not advertize what they can not prove. You can not tell a dog has hip problems unless you test for it and put it out to the public to see.
I hope to start seeing them on the ofa site soon.
