Also, I have just this morning calculated how much time I can leave Webster on his own.  ZERO MINUTES!  This morning, in the length of time it took me to brush my teeth, he managed to pull 4 towels from the hall bathroom and to seek and destroy a bag of hickory chips that was supposedly lost for the last year.  (I still don't know where he found them)    Webster is 3 months old, afraid of NOTHING and full of personality.  At least we can still laugh and call it personality.

After having Webster for a month, (and a previous newf for 14 years), I have figured out how often I need to let him out to pee, to poo, how often to feed him and how much.   What I cannot calculate is the "just right" amount of water to put down in his water bowl at any one time.  If there is too little, he will put his paw in it and swirl it around and out of the bowl til it is empty.  If I put more than he can drink at one time, he will tip the bowl over and mop my kitchen floor with an inch of water and his hairy little backside.  At night, when I am "rationing" his water before bedtime, I will give him ice cubes.  The little dickens will eat ice as long as I will give it to him. It will dribble out of his mouth like a little faucet.  If there is water in Rileys bowl, Webster will set it flying across the room.  I won't even begin to calculate the amt of water Webster has emptied from our fish pond.  It is cute and funny, just not always to the one who has to mop it all up.

The last post was once again asleep at the water bowl.    I have never seen any dog enjoy his water so much!  It is fun to watch.

Webster was the hit of the street in his little construction workers get up, complete with tool belt and hard hat.

I like naked myself.  Webster only wears his collar if he is on a leash.  But, I was thinking about microchipping.  He is getting neutered in a few weeks and I would have it done then.   Whats the going opinion on microchips?

I remember a day, with my first newfie, Hightower.  We had just come home from getting the first leg of his CD.  He had done beautifully, he would sit, he would down, he would heel, stay and come.... all off leash.  No problems.  I pulled into the driveway, opened the door, and out he got and off he ran. And he ran, and he ran.  No amount of calling would get him to come.  Sometimes he would act like he didn't hear me, other times he would look at me, then run the other way.  I can remember shouting at him that he was better cared for than any kid in Hardin County and if he wanted to run away, he go just go.  I was so aggravated.  I sat down, he came back and gave a hug.  I think he was maybe 5 or 6 years old before he was "reliable" to come everytime I called.  Oh, he would always come, just not always immediately.

Always nice to meet another newf on here.  Welcome aboard.  Hi, I'm Karen and have Webster, an almost 12 week old newfie weighs in at 30 pounds and growing fast.

Tonite, we tried keeping Webster awake while we watched the baseball game.  He fell asleep on a mat by our bed.  When the game was over we closed the bedroom door and turned out the lights, thinking we would just let him sleep there. Webster immediately woke up and scratched on the door.  I got up, thinking he would want to go out, instead, when I opened the door, he went straight across the hall and got in his crate and laid down. It made me feel good, like having the crate was the right thing after all.  It is now 4 am, and he is up for a potty break and a few ice cubes.  He will be up about 10 minutes then back to the crate.  I think he likes having a place to call his own.

Folks are always thinking my newfie pup is a chow... in fact, they INSIST that he is a chow.  Sometimes I argue with them, some times not.

Help... my son is home and I am hoping to show him the Dog Whisperer.  Now I can't find the link.  Can some one re-post it for me please?    I think it is great!
