Treatment & Preventative Meds / Re: Yearly Vaccines.
« on: July 29, 2008, 12:29:40 pm »
I know nothing about Canada or the proper spaying protocol, but 3-yr rabies vaccines are actually encouraged at my vet's office.  And they're more than happy to hold off on other innoculations and/or draw titers.  Keep calling 'til you find a place that will either give you what you want/need or at least a reasonable explanation why they won't or can't.

Free hotdogs? Wahoo!! Congrats Memphis!

Undeniably cute, absolutely precious. And his spunky personality is equally adorable.  Can't wait to hear and see more of Troy...   :D

While we're mourning the loss of Bear, no one is more affected than Nakita, his partner for six years. It's heart-breaking to watch her anxiously search through the house and around the yard looking for him, whimpering quietly. How to help her through this process? I'd be grateful for any known "do's and don'ts" to help her through this transition.  :-\ :-[

Remembering those no longer with us. / Goodbye sweet Bear

Bear suffered another episode of seizures Sunday night. We think that his medication level slipped, as he had two days with increased energy and playfulness. Unfortunately, the other effect of this - of course - was that his threshold for seizures lowered. We knew that increasing his medications again to keep him free of further seizures wasn't an option for his quality of life, so we made the difficult decision to have him euthanized yesterday morning.  A tough decision, but the right one. We feel lucky to have enjoyed his 'old self' over the weekend.

I know you'll all join me in wishing him sunny days and cool breezes full of chasing birds, romping with buddies, and eating all the hotdogs and watermelon he wants.

Rest in peace my big sweet boy.  :'(

It's always something...  hope it's nothing serious and that Fumble feels better soon.  :-*

Oh - the lid is down.  The other clue of naughtiness is the nerve-jangling clang of the toilet seat lid falling down when they remove their head from the bowl.  ::)

I'd regularly find Nakita in the tub, willing the faucet to produce cold fresh water.  Plus it's a nice cool place to lie down. ;)  Our new house has a tub with higher sides = harder to get into.  But she'll stand at the side with the same intent expression.  Oh - the power of the mind.  ::)

Unfortunately, we've graduated to using the toilet.  I've caught them once or twice but the real treat is practically falling off the toilet when I sit and slide on a big goober left by a satisfied customer.  Ew!   :P

I'm so sorry that you had to feel the pain all over again. RIP sweet Annie.  :'(

It's hard work to make a comfy napping place out of a phone book.  Sweet girl deserves the break.  ;)  ;D

Your sister is adorable, as are the pups.  And what a great bonding experience for you all!

Well - thank goodness she's alright but fingers are crossed here too.  And maybe now you can schedule the procedure for the right time.  :)

After losing an entire casserole, several loaves of bread, a sugar pumpkin, and an entire box of just-colored boiled eggs the day before Easter, we moved to a house with a pantry with a high counter and shelves above. ;D However, we still have to baby-gate it to keep them out of the cat box (ew).  What about the icky apple spray on the sides of the counter?

Nakita can open most doors, so I spent a lot of time training her to NOT go out the door until I give a release command (okay, let's go,...).  She's escaped once since moving to the new house; we may have to put in a different handle.  Funny note: Bear never follows her when she escapes.  He waits at the door like a big goofy doof. Also, Nakita doesn't run.  She escapes to find us - gardening, bbq-ing, etc., and presents as though she just rescued us from the scary side of a mountaintop (thank goodness! - and isn't she a good girl?!). ::)

I like the babygate and lock idea and fully support your getting it on video.  :D  Just keep breathing and enjoy your incredibly smart pup.  And be sure to keep us posted!
