Today's rescues....
« on: September 24, 2006, 10:23:52 am »
I just picked these guys up.,..Well, girls actually.  The adults are 5ish and are working pyrs.  They're thin and have really bad hair but overall in better shape than I thought they would be.

TJ...

Millie...

And the little 5mos old feral girl...April.

April had to be drugged to be caught.  So far she'll let me get my hands on her but I can tell this is going to be a LONG road home.

All have been placed and will go to the vets tomorrow for spaying, etc.

How wonderful of you to take them in. How long will you keep them before they go to their new homes?

Yeah, they're thin but not as bad as I was thinking they would be.  They're accustomed to working 300 acres so they're bound to be skinny.

I'll have them until the 7th or 8th.  April will be here for a while longer as she needs to learn that humas aren't evil creatures bent on roasting her alive.  I can get my hands on her but that's it.  I'm very afraid that she's still feeling the affects of the drugs used to catch her and that's why I can touch her.  sigh... She'll come around though.  Her brothers did and they're working and loving life right now.  (I got them about 2 weeks ago)

Oh poor April!...She just breaks my heart!...I will definitly be sending prayers that she overcomes her distrust of humans!
The dogs are lucky to have come your way & you are lucky to get to help them!
I'd give you a big hug if I could!

Kudos to you and how wonderful that you have found homes for the oldest two already. You are a wonderful person. Hopefully April will be understanding that she is now loved very soon.

Aww, they are precious.  Little April is pulling at my heartstrings, she looks so scared :(  She'll come around, though, I'm sure.

One of these days, I'll have a Pyr, I fell in love with them the day I met my first one in person when I worked at the shelter.

Nope.  They aren't answering the phones and they aren't returning calls.  I found out there are a BUNCH of puppies in a north AL shelter.  They've already put down 15 of them.   ???   :'(   I'm trying to get info to see what, if anything, can be done.  I was told a "breeder" dumped them...

I don't know, but I heard through the grapevine the other day that the Chilton Co. HS was broken into recently and it has really put a strain on them financially.  I don't know if they've had to downsize the staff or what, but I'll try and find out more about it and if it is true or now.
