Dew claws
« on: January 15, 2008, 03:52:20 pm »
I have just gotten a new dog that is one year old. He was though to be a Great Pyrenees. I think he might be a Kuvasz.
He does not have the double dew claws that a Pyrenees would have. His face is more narrow and has beautiful almond shaped eyes that are deep golden color.

Do Kuvasz have double dew claws? What are the most distinctive traits between the 2 breeds?

Thanks for your help!!

Kuvasz generally have a much narrower head, less rounded in appearance than a Pyr.  They also don't have the double dew claws.  They are supposedly an ancester of the Pyr and tend to look quite similar, other than the above.  They are reportedly even more stubborn and can be more protective.  Alot of shelters mistake the two breeds.  I think they are beautiful dogs when properly cared for.  Post some pictures.  I can't wait to see him.
