Cody is sick
« on: January 31, 2008, 05:41:45 pm »
Hi, everyone. Cody went to the vet today (Friday). She's had the runs and has been throwing up plus she has been listless. She has Giardia again and some kind of single cell organism. We tested for parvo and x-rayed for obstructions both negative. They put her on 3 medications. One for each of the stomach problems and one to keep her from throwing up. (She kept throwing up the meds I was giving to her Thursday.)

This actually began Thursday. Her first and only symptom was her diarhea. I took her to the vet that morning and they gave me some meds for that. Later she started throwing up. This morning she acted like she didn't feel good so I took her back to the vet. They are keeping her overnight and I pick her up in the morning.

Just to let you all know what is going on ...
Terri

Awww, poor Cody.  Luckily Cody has a dog Mama who knows when to get the Vet.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Any idea where the Giardia is coming from?

Thanks for the best wishes. Poor Cody. I took her to the vet 3 days in a row. I found a spot in her iris Wednesday. Thursday and Friday was dealing with the intestinal problems.

I really don't know where the Giardia is coming from. I'm not too sure that she got over it the first time.

She may not have.  She really has a good mama to take care of her.  Poor girl.  Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

Yes, I clean up myself after cleaning her up. I got her from the vet this morning and they said that the diarea is cleared up. And she is on the panacur plus 3 other meds. She still isn't her usual hyper self but that could be because she did not sleep too well at the vet last night.

Thank you all for your concern. It is always hard when our babies get sick.

When I brought Issy home from the shelter she had a few different worms.  Treated her for that, she still had the runs, took her back and this test came up neg.  Took her back a week later, still with the runs, and she had worms and giardia!  After two more treatments the giardia was finally gone!!

Maybe she's a bit listless cause she's a little dehydrated too?  Hopefully she starts feeling better!
