Newflvr, I wonder if Phinny has what cowboy was cured from?Alexandra and I have spoken on the phone. Our connection is through Cowboy's breeder who was so supportive while Cowboy was sick. Part of his symptoms are very similar, but he's not vomiting up the blood. Cowboy's vet is faxing over his records to Phinney's vet to see if there is anything that could help. The scary thing is that Phinney is an old guy...over 10 and for a Newf, that is very elderly!
I know how much Alexandra will appreciate everybody's good thoughts and prayers!
Oh, as follow-up, in speaking to Cowboy's doc this morning about Phinney, all the toxological tests done at UC Davic have come back negative. They are now doing viral cultures. BUT!! the good news she hasn't seen a case in over two weeks so she's hoping whatever is causing this has gone away. She said she's treated between 40 to 50 cases of this disease since late summer....all with the exact same symptoms as Cowboy. All but one dog was saved...and she lost him only because he literally died coming through her door. A twenty-four hour critical care facility is essential!!
Thanks again to everybody for being so supportive and caring! Love to you all!!!
