Wow!
Gibson is one BIG beautiful boy.
Danes are too cool.
They kinda have an idea how big they are, but they don't flaunt it.

There can be nothing better than observing and participating in what a dog is bred to do. Seeing a LGD doing it's job has to be a high!
I hope your neighbors are amenable to the introduction of your dogs into the flock, I hope you are ready to allow them to  accept them. They may just shepard them home everynight so they can keep an eye on them!

Tulsa chews on pig ears, sticks, and a few select A##holes. So her teeth are pretty clean. Although I've had to take her to the dentist a couple of times to have some dumb SOB's bony butt extracted for reconstructive surgery. Fortunately they were on medicare. Didn't cost me a thing, and they usually went to jail for 3 to 5 years. I try to vary her diet, don't want her to get used to something that may come back to haunt me.
Pig ears work for Tulsa, but only one a day, she refuses the rawhide bones, hard to digest and they're not that good for our dogs. Too many weird chemicals in the proccessing, no matter where they come from.
So Pig Ears and Drug Dealers is all I let Tulsa have for chewies.
She's doing great, pretty, BIG, White Teeth, and the neighborhood is a lot nicer to walk around in!
Love you all

I didn't know Balu was going deaf! Give him more things to smell, that's how dogs see anyway.
Hang in there dog, start collecting laundry, when their lips move, they're just saying they love you, just smile and nod and keep chewing, there's no such thing as too much love. And from their reaction you can tell how much they LOVE you.
Go Balu!

Stupid is, as Stupid does.-Forrest Gump
Irresponsible people will not confess to their actions. They are always right! In their own minds. I would just hope that future members of this site will realize that the reasons we love our dogs is becauase of their temperment, and how they fit in with our families. It doesn't matter if they are not 'perfect' to the breed standard in conformation, but they have to be perfect for our lifestyle and our expectations of them. And I know that we do our best to make our dogs 'good citizens', so we can all walk proud and tall with our dog by our side.
IMHO, people who push the limits of responsible breeding practices are pimps and whores, and they deserve to be stoned. (And not in the "Fun" way!")
ALL of my dogs have been rescues, almost all have been mixed breeds, (My Lab, Lucy, was AKC papered, that didn't make her any less a Bonehead!)
Stay away from the 'RARITIES', they will bring you nothing but grief!
Research your Breeder for a purebred pup. Know the standard for the breed. Be Ready to deal with the issues.
Be prepared!
If Red were still here, I know that she would agree with me. We all get the dog that we deserve, it just depends on how hard we are willing to work.

Most assuredly Johnny Depp.
Is it gonna happen with 'peopl feet' on the ends of the forks?
And are they gonna be licking toes?

The only time I get scared is when Tulsa is scared, and that's not often!
OK, I was scared when she was attacked by two Pitts at the dog park, they were irregulars, I had to punt one in the throat and it slashed me, 7 stitches, and I couldn't ride my mountain bike for a week.
Tulsa dispatched the other with minimal damage to herself, she had some superficial wounds to her throat, but she has extra skin there, so there was no major damage.
She was lying at my feet when the owner of the Pitts approached me with his issues, why did I kick his dog! Tulsa saw him coming and hunkered down into her 'protect' mode. He was hollering at me and saying some 'not too nice things' about my actions toward his dog. As he approached, Tulsa bristled, stood up and started growling, still by my side. I told him it was not a wise thing to come any closer to me, since I really didn't have that much control over my dog.(Not True, but he didn't know that!) Meanwhile, blood from his dogs bite has started to soak my sock.
He was one of those kind of people who take pride in thier dogs aggressiveness, and I am sure that he wanted to take a swing at me. The closer he got to me, the more agitated Tulsa became. Tulsa started forward in her low croach, teeth showing,  hair bristling, and still the low growl.
A voice rang out behind me. "Hey Mister, why don't you haul your dumb @ss, and your sissy dogs out of here!" and, "Yay Tulsa!"
I looked behind me, and ALL of the 'regulars' were there! About 10 of them. They 'invited' him to leave. He's never been back.
My dog loves to play and I don't have a clue what this has to do with this thread, but I thought that I would share.
I love my dog and her large heart.
There are times when we have to allow our dogs to do what they have been bred for, and revel in the things that they can teach us.

You are indeed fortunate! I had a Husky/Shepard mix, and when he got loose he was GONE! Huskies love to run, and run, and run...Funny thing is, our house cat, Oliver, would go with him! They'd come home covered in Cow Dung, Mud, filled with Burrs, Ollie with a prize catch, bird, rat, or field mouse, usually alive. Which he would release once inside the house!
Glad I was younger then.

Tulsa loves Cops and Firemen. We live across the street from their Headquarters. When they roll, Tulsa is digging at the door wanting to join the fun, when they come to our door, telling us to keep it down, Tulsa is all over them, giving loves,(saved my butt on more than one occasion)
My dog is a bit Goofy.
But then, maybe so am I!

Same with Tulsa, she was approximatly  1 years old when I got her from the shelter. They said that she was 2-3 years old. My vet said, No WaY! guessed her age between 1 and 1 &1/2 years. She
acted like a pup. Big time biting issues, did not like men, or children, would lunge at them on a lead.
It took a long time to desentisize her with her issues. Took her out in public with a pocketful of her favorite treats, and when people would ask if they could pet her, I Would put her in a 'sit' and give them her treats to give to her. Her mouth was always very soft, and she didn't grab at the treats. When children wanted to play 'keep away' I would remove my dog. The parents would ask me why I didn't let her play. I would tell them that your childs throat in my dogs mouth is not play, you can feed my dog, but do not ever tease a dog with food. And we would walk on.
Tulsa is now very comfortable with other Men and Children, and I am comfortable when she is around them. My radar is still out there, but I know when she is comfortable and when she's not.
And it changes from day to day.
Don't ever think that your dog is trained for any given situation. Be prepared for the unexpected, and be prepared to react. We have to protect our dogs from stupid people. And there's a lot more of them out there, and too few of us.

Did you get lost in a litter?
Thank You,
