« on: September 20, 2007, 01:17:05 pm »
In a surprising move, U.S. toy manufacturer Mattel apologized to China on Friday, taking responsibility for recent toy recalls and admitting they were due to "design flaws."

Is the easywalk harness made by the same company as Gentle leader?  At what age did you start them on it my pup is 3months old I dont want to have to buy 2 different sizes.
Yeah. http://www.premier.com/pages.cfm?ID=75
Butter is 8 month old now, and I bought Size L(26"-36"). I almost adjusted all 3 straps to shortest length, but the chest strap is a little bit loose. Anyway it's still effective against pulling. BTW, I found another way to fit the harness: the chest strap on shoulder, and shoulder strap in front of chest which makes a perfect fit for butter. It is almost as effective as suggested fitting.

Collars, crates, & other cool things / Easywalk harness:highly recommended!
« on: September 17, 2007, 02:25:19 pm »
I bought it online and have been using it on Butter for a week. It is realy wonderful. He was comfortable with it the moment he took it on. I can hold him still with one hand even if there is noisy puppy or running kids in front of him. There is basically no difference between walking in our quiet neighborbood or inside petsmart. A gentle tug on leash will correct him when he is walking too fast or is distracted.
In the beginner's training class, there are 2 puppies with head halters and 2 with easywalk harness, others are using plain collars. The easy of control is similar, but easywalk is way more comfortable. One of the puppy(yellow lab) has been using head halter for 6 weeks at least, and still is not comfortable with it and paws it all the time.

Discussions & Information on Grooming / Re: Butt's Nails
« on: September 11, 2007, 08:41:17 pm »
I started to clip Butter's nail since the day we got him from rescuer @ 12 weeks old. His nail was so sharp then. He is not so happy about being clipped but tolerant it if I insists. IWhen I clip him, I just give him a chew toy to keep him from chewing the clipper. If his patience runs out after clipping 2 paws, which he usually do, I'll do remaining paws at another time.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Re: Problem with Canidae Dog Food
« on: September 04, 2007, 11:33:23 pm »
Butter took a month to fully adapt to his first bag of Canidae All Life Stages(production date:May 2007), somehow he had to do it again with 2nd bag(production date: June 2007). He had eaten the 2nd bag for a month to produce solid poo.

The pattern is that they(canidae) seem to avoid answering what they perceive as uncomfortable questions. I don't believe for a moment that they didn't get my letter in the mail and my email didn't go through, since in response to an inquiry I made a while back they sent me a form-letter reply (which didn't answer any of my questions, but oh well...), so they did at the very least get that email.

Hopefully, they give satifactory response to this problem.

Food Discussion & Information / Re: Do the old Food Switcheroo!
« on: September 03, 2007, 06:48:57 am »
I switched Butter's food from Iams Large Puppy to Canidae All Life Stages in about 1 weeks in June. I knew it was a little bit quick, but I did not have the old food left... It took about 1 month to get full solid poo. It was noticeably smaller than before. But with 2nd bag of Canidae I bought in the beginning of August, his poo again became soft again, bigger than the 1st bag. I don't know what's the reason.

Thank you all for your nice comments! :)
Butter was generally well behaved in the dog park. But he sometimes pestered gentle dogs, and ran away when other dogs played too hard on him. Once he crawled under a table to avoid another dog.  :D
