Medical Conditions & Diseases / Re: Idea about cancer in dogs...
« on: June 06, 2005, 10:33:41 pm »
I really did not want to post here because I have so many mixed emotions.  If it were not for some chemicals, I would loose all control of my acreage.  I must spray for weeds around fences and borders and driveways.  It is just too much to pull weeds by hand everywhere.  I am very careful about where I spray and keeping the animals away but it is hard too.  I have done this for over 30 years.  I had an 18 year old dog that I just lost.  That has to be old age only.  Most all of my animals have lived to ripe ages but I lost  a horse to cancer and a dog many years ago to stomach cancer who was very young.  Was it my water that we get from a well? It is very hard to determine if that is a problem or not  Can you blame every cancer death to chemicals, I wish I knew.

These are ALL great.  I am simply amazed that these wonderful animals put up with all this garbage.  They have such happy faces on and I know that they are thinking "why do I have to do this stupid thing".  Is it for the treat, I don't think so, it is because they love you and want to make you happy.  This is great and I tip my hat to you all.

Wait a minute.  You guys have some ideas.  What a Reality Show this would make.  Maybe some talent scouts are watching.  Nicker has to be the star, especially with the contest.  People would come from all over to see this in action.  Better than COPS

hahahaha, I wonder if Nicker's outfit looks like the nose warmers I used to wear when I lived on the East Coast.  I can't wait.  SEE this is better than Trading Spaces

Very interesting Grumpy.  I did not know the history of clicker training, now I do. That makes sense about it beginning with dolphins.  Everytime I read books on training and, like your advice, it has to do with common sense.  There is a world of great information on this site and the price is right.  Thanks

I'm with Vicky, they do not run because they don't love you - I believe it is just in their nature.  We live in the coutry so I have to be real careful because of livestock.  Niki will escape to chase squirrels but I know she won't chase livestock. But someone could take a shot at her anyway.  I have run around in the dark looking for her - but she always comes back. It scares me, I believe, because we don't have control, then we panic. It is not good but she is getting better about it as she gets older.  Did you know that Lassie in real life drove his owner crazy because he chased cars?  Lassie was really a boy.   What I am saying they, like humans, have their own quirks that we have to deal with.

I ALWAYS get the mail in one piece, as a matter of fact she takes it in the house and places it on the table for me to read - the newspaper as well, but she hasn't learned to pour my coffee yet.
