Food Discussion & Information / Re: Slow metabolism or picky eater?

If she is not losing weight don't worry just yet  Pyrs have a slow metabolism and don't eat well in hot weather.  If she starts to lose weight then you should add some more enticement like canned food to encourage her to eat more.

They are desparately thin- you have to wonder if this will have a part in them developing orthopedic disorders later on

Usually it is the other way to feed chicken if it is raw- cooked chicken the bones splinter more. The skin won't protect the intestines.  If you pressure cook the chicken the bones will become soft and just crumble instead of splintering.

OH MY!  What is the long term prognosis for lethal whites?  I don't know anything about them.  Of course the harder you work to save them the harder the fall if they don't make it!  Bless you for trying

If they maintain adequate weight then you are feeding enough  The only warning is that you are not feeding a balanced diet- although your 2 ingrediants are good they need a variety of meats and if no bones then other supplements as well as veges and fruits.  There is a ton of info on the net about cooking for your dogs and raw diets that you should read while embarking on this diet.

Love the Landseer  If they are getting along great then keep doing what you are doing!  There are no special rules that must be followed when you have 2 dogs- mostly just common sense

Pics please!!

Both breeds are excellant guards but the Pyr has a more even temperament with the Anatolian being more aggressive.  The Anatolian also doesn't have such a temdency to wander off - hence one of the reasons why the two breeds are often crossed

There is a ton of info on the internet about resource guarding- read up on it some of it is an eye opener.  Her distrust of hats- she just needs more socialization but she has behaved properly so far- she is supposed to guard you and men in hats don't look right so surely to be distrusted :>)  As far as taking the water dish down in the crate- solution is easy- just remove the water dish!

Food Discussion & Information / Re: hes getting skinny!

Actually 4 cups a day is not a lot of food for his size.  My PBGVs eat 3-4 cups a day and they only weigh 25 pounds! If concerned about his weight increase his food  Also is he current on his worming as this can cause them to lose weight as well.
