Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / William Fox
« on: September 25, 2005, 04:10:52 am »
Still searching for the right animal that I can train to be a therapy dog and act as a companion for Niki.  I love Petfinders and here is William Fox {don't know how he got that name, but I can call him Willie).  He is very pretty and has a great white area on the chest.  He is a Rottweiler, Shepherd mix and looks to be very intelligent.  Is 60 lbs so not very big.  I am being very particular in my search because it is such a big commitment.  I would love a 2 yr. old rescue.  This one is on Petfinders.

Hi, welcome,  Well is sleeping in the corner of the bed with a sprawled out body any worse than having it be a husband rather than a dog?  That's why we now have separate bedrooms- lol- I am still in the corner squished up.  Great looking big girl. ;D

Medical Conditions & Diseases / Re: Torn ACL (again?)
« on: September 25, 2005, 04:01:00 am »
Niki had the same problem and I had the $3,000 surgery.  She tore her ligament while just running very hard.  She does fine but sits a little funny.  She was running again and tore the other one and I just could not bear putting her through the pain of that operation again, so I kept her quiet for awhile and several months later she stopped favoring her leg.  She is close to 10 and fine now with no signs of arthritis.  She is a rottweiler mix.

You are right, Red.  You are an absolute genius in training and dog knowledge, so I respect and listen to everthing you say.  And, yes, Nick will pay the price of having goof around time with Angus.  I do wonder, though whether or not they understand "sometimes".  At time I feel we under estimate a lot of their feelings and do not give dogs the credit that is due.  They still constantly amaze me and I do believe they can have an understanding of "sometimes" especially after maturing more, which Angus still needs to do.  Nick and Angus are "nuts" that is why we love them so much.  ;)

BooHoo, you are all talking about Blockbuster.  Well, we started the video rental business - us independent retailers.  Niki worked in our store delivering movies to people.  Then --- they opened a Blockbuster next door and even though it was never a better deal, just they had the advertising dollars so people went to them like sheep.  Then Niki got put out of work and there are hardly any independent video store retailers left, at least where I live.  Sorry, all, I am just venting when I hear the name Blockbuster.   :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Thanks for letting me vent.  Niki and I do volunteer work but it is still not the same.
