General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Looking for mate IW Morgan NYC
« on: November 14, 2010, 07:00:20 am »
Morgan our very handsome 4yo Irish Wolfhound (AKC registered) has been extra affectionate lately. He has been jumping into a human bed and sofa to be with us. This comes after our very small dog has come out of heat. We believe he wants to mate. Any BPO females looking mate with a very wonderful New York City based Irish Wolfhound? Help!

Kaya my 10 1/2 yo great pyr has been having trouble walking and sitting. He has been on Synovi 3G for 2.5 years. Rimiydal does not seem to work. He walks better in the morning.
My regular Vet says if the Rimydal does not help I should try acupuncture.

I went for a second opinion and a vet recommended by a Pyr breeder says the Arthritis does not feel that bad and it may be neurological.

Current meds
7:30AM 1 Tramadol with Large SynoviG3 Tablet
11:30AM  1 Bufferin with Large Synovi G3 Tablet
6:00PM 1 Tramadol with Large SynoviG3 Tablet
11:30PM 1 Bufferin with Large Synovi G3 Tablet

Any suggestions?

Is Dog Gone Pain DGP worth any good.
Is Joint Max any better then Joint Max.

Great Pyrenees Discussions / Urination Deficate at home
« on: January 28, 2007, 09:38:07 am »

I have a 9 1/2 yo Great Pyr. He is wonderful. I share him with my neighbor. I buy the food and feed him, I take him to the vet and pay the bill, and I walk him twice a day during the week. She has him in her 3br apt (I only have a small studio) and she walks him on weekends. My neighbor doesn't want the dog any more and resents having him in her apt and walking him. Now she claims he is urinating and defecating at home. During the week when I take him out he does not seem to have the problem. Is it a physical or emotional problem?

My dog's vet recommended the following products claiming that purity is the key factor.
Aritrimaxx for Dogs
Synovi MSM Tabs
SynoviG3
Anyone know anything about these products?
What is the best Glucosamine product in your opinion?
Where is the best place to get this stuff? ($85 for 120 tabs sounds expensive to me) Is it cheaper on the net?
 ???

Great Pyrenees Discussions / Re: Just found out about bad hips
« on: November 19, 2005, 12:29:09 am »
 :(
Just came back from the Vet who removed teeth and cleaned up the rest(very upset about the removal) and a benign cyst(from the paw).  He says my 8yo is in good shape for his age but the hips are showing some wear. He is recommending one of these three one of the following Aritrimax, Synovi MSM or Synovi G3 claiming that purity is the key. Anyone know of the best  Glucosamine and the place to get it?

Great Pyrenees Discussions / Re: should I adopt a great pyrenees?
« on: July 24, 2005, 09:09:22 pm »
Do you have room in your heart to fall in Love?
A Great Pyrenees is love in a fur coat.
Kaya hates motorcycles he barks at them when they pass, and he  is very stubborn.
He has a mind of his own and when we go for a walk he wants to lead.
He hates it when I clean his teeth and does not eat much.
Perhaps I should rephrase it a Great Pyrenees is a loving Angel in a fur coat.
The time we spent together is very special, I don't want it to ever end.
I always look forward to his welcome greeting and the kiss of my lips on his velvety ear.

Great Pyrenees Discussions / Sheep and the Sheepish Pyr
« on: July 04, 2005, 10:09:43 pm »
Just wondering what reactions none working Pyrs have when exposed to Sheep or other livestock. Has anyone taken a family pet Pyr to a farm? What has been the reaction, of the Pyr and the livestock? How do Pyrs react to herding dogs at work?

Thanks

Food Discussion & Information / Finicky eating habits
« on: June 06, 2005, 10:52:18 pm »

Kaya is now 8yo and a very finicky eater. We put chicken or yogurt on his food but he doesn't seem to eat much. Sometimes he decides to eat just before he knows he is going out. We have had some warm days and I just took him for a long walk in Central Park(with lots of breaks resting under cool trees with a bowl of water). He was pooped and lost all interest in anything but sleeping. He had his teeth cleaned at the vet two years ago. The tarter buildup has been significant even with my best efforts to clean with gauze and solution. Please help with answers and suggestions.

Please suggest a diet that works, something a Pyr will eat and not hurt the GI track.

Are all Pyrs such finicky eaters?

What is the best way to keep the teeth clean.
