Great Pyrenees Discussions / Pyrs Back Toes?
« on: March 11, 2008, 12:54:00 pm »
My daughter has been looking at a Pyr at one of the rescues,The site says Full pyr but doesnt really look like one BUT has the back toes..so question is..can a pyr mix have the back toes? not dew claws but the actual toes with the pad(Extra Thumb some call it)Daughter says its a reccessive Gene(Sp?)so didnt think a pyr mix could carry the gene or toes.

Some of you may have read that hubby is wanting a Saint Bernard, when I show him several pics of several different breeds he says he likes them all.I have been doing some reading on all 3 but without having to really compare between what I read...What are some of the attributes of each breed ? This can help us decide,we like them all :o
Remember we have a Great Pyr male so whichever dog would not be so much of a dominant dog by nature.Thats reason for another breed then Great Pyr,we have been told by so many to have 2 male pyrs is hard to keep in harmony.

So details please :D..On the Saints,Leos and Newfs and Landseer Newfs?

Are they good in the house, are they calm or hyper dogs, good with children, good with other dogs..cats..ho rses, hardheaded, easily trainable..All of this will help.

Great Pyrenees Pictures / 205 Pound Great Pyrenees(Pics)
« on: March 01, 2008, 09:09:10 am »
We went to visit a lady that has a 205 pound Pyrenees and he is not fat at all! its all size and hair ;D he is named Fabion. She lives in my area so we made a trip to see him and 2 of her other pyrs to discuss some training and overall Pyrness :D we enjoyed seeing the big guy,he was as gentle as one of his cats :o but did stay between us and his momma the entire visit, very amazing to see this gentle giant.

That is my mom in the purple top, when Fabion was sitting his head reached her chest :o

This of course is not the norm for a pyr so thats why we made the special visit ;) He is one of the most beautiful dogs I think I have ever seen(besides the slobber)ha..ha..
