calling newfie people!
« on: September 14, 2005, 03:41:53 pm »
Ok, here is a little pup I am thinking about adopting. Does she look like a Newfie mix, or is she just a little black fuzzy puppy? I think I'm going to see her on Saturday, so I'll know more then. You know how rescue can be, they will put "Newfoundland mix" on any little fluffball!!

Thanks! :D

She looks like 100% newf to me, but she is tiiiny. She is adorable though.

This is what they told us and couldn't provide any more current pics:

Quote
Bebe is 14 to 16 weeks
old, weighs approximately 11 to 12 pounds, spayed and up-to-date on her
shots.  She has a very sweet disposition and gets along well with
children and other pets.

ps: I think a newf at 3-4 months would be 30-40 lbs.

pps: that response was on 8-25

At first glance I would say she looks like a Newf....don't see any of the Chow, though.  But the picture of her with the person shows how truly tiny she is.  It's hard for me to imagine that she could be a Newf.  Again, on the other hand, when I picked Chester up at 12 weeks he was 18 pounds.   He's 7 months now and 72 pounds.    SO...if you love her get her!!  I'll send you a picture of Chester when we got him and maybe you can see the size....

That was Chester at about 10 weeks (and about 14 pounds)

She's so cute!  Hard to say whether she's a newfie...What a darling puppy!  :)

Here is a photo of Sasha at 9 weeks.  She was 18 pounds.

I would say she probably has some Newf in her.  If you check out some of the Newf Paw Prints, you'll see they looked quite a bit different when they were pups.  Drake was pretty small, but he's not a huge adult Newf either (ONLY 128 lbs.).  I see some similarities between he and Bebe.  Check out the first pic on his print:

and then put her picture side by side with it and compare.

Regardless, she looks like a really sweet dog and you can't go wrong with that.  How could someone abandon a cutie like her?   :(

I would say that she looks a little Newf-ish too. Very cute pup! Good luck...I hope that you get the tiny cutie.

Moose is a Newfie/Great Pyr cross and he's not huge either .  he's now 7 1/2 months and is the size of a nicely built Rottie right now. he's filling out , getting wider and his neck is getting big and he's still growing taller, nice and slow. I haven't a clue if he's going to be giant in mind and body or just mind, lol.  his personality is all Newf/Great Pyr though, no doubt about it !  He's wonderful, very loving, guards us really well, and is a very independent thinker too, lol.

The pup you are thinking about looks like such a sweet thing, I'd get her in a heartbeat. Thankfully I don't live anywhere near you, LOL LOL

They don't show a really close-up picture of her paws, so it's hard to tell if they're webbed or not. Boy, she's a cutie though! I say go for it! (of course I do, I'm an enabler!  ;D) Even if she is chow, she's still got the potential for some big size to her. Apollo is part chow (the biggest part we think) and he's 135 and still going.

She's such a doll though.....you know you wanna......... ;)

she does not apear all newf to me, ear set is high, coat is that of a lab newf mix.
i would venture to say lab newf mix.
she is not small.
many newf pups start out smaller, but end up full size growing at different rates.
just becouse some lines are jumbo sized doesnt mean the normal sized pup is small LOL
i get a kick out of the comparisons. ;)

hard to see her pic is very dark
i would assume some newf.
remember to.
many of these come from mill lines wich are not at all the old type or the normal type breeders work towards.
wich means they have a different look to them than one from well thought out breedings.

Thanks for all the input, folks.  :D I can usually recognize different breeds in full grown dogs but I hardly have any experience with little puppies.
I might still go see her this Saturday and dispel the mystery, but my cat has come down with something. We are going today to find out what's wrong, and depending on the vet bill of course, that will influence my ability to bring home a new puppy-baby soon!!!
I LOVE all the baby newf pictures! They are seriously adorable!!!
