Thank you. Mr. Jiggs is a handsome boy as well. It is too bad we weren't closer for b-day parties. That would be fun. Just checked out the video of Jigg's getting rolled. How cute. Reminds us totally of something Magoo would do.

there is a recessive in our breed, black and tan, we believe comes from the tibetan mastiff, wayyyyyyyyyyy backkkk

We have Magoo's papers and he is purebred. He came from a litter of 4 browns and 3 other blacks and he was the only one with the markings on his legs. We decided to pick him because he is different. From what our breeder told us his grandfather is a brown so he has the brown recessive genes in him. Please tell me if we are wrong about what our breeder told us.... We love him no matter what though.  :)

of course you love him no matter what!
but.....
dogs of color in our breed are not tri,
they are black with brown recessive genes, not brown patterns,
they are brown, without black pattern,
there are grey, all of wich can have WHITE on chest
the ONLy color that would have brown points is the black and tan.
wich is not a very common thing nor should it intentionally be bred for.
so i really dont think the breeder was honest with you, or was knowlegable, or maye the breeder had pyrs or other breeds on the property, that maybe the female got mixed with another daddy.
if you go to the breed standard you can find the colors that are in our breed. ;)
cream color is another color, but can crop up also.

EDITED
to add on chest and took out pattern, just so there is no misunderstandi ng why i edited.

We have read up on the breed and the standards and I know we could never breed or show him, but oh well, not what we planned anyway. I did send you a personal email with a picture and he looks exactly like that dog in the picture. Thanks for your comments.

By the way..I saw at the end of your post..."this post is not to offend anyone" ...too funny. Definately not offended. Was reading about some people being offended and leaving the board. Too crazy. Life's too short to get upset over the small stuff. Some people need to "build a bridge and get over it"
