Events to go to or join / Dog Spa
« on: November 22, 2007, 04:34:08 am »
We had a new experience last weekend. I took Monty to a dog spa and we used the self wash bathing/drying suites. It was great, no lifting, no mess and no 150 lbs of wet dog in the house!!! Monty enjoyed it also. The water was the perfect temp and the dryers were not hot. Highly recommended... .anybody near Lincoln. Rhode Island Check it out ZPup is located on GW Highway.

Welcome, I am relatively new as well. My name is Gill and I have Montague Bennet (Monty) a 10 month old rough coat St Bernard. This site and the wonderful people on it have helped me tremendously since Monty came to stay. They have talked me through the rough times and revelled in the good with me. I am sure they will do the same for you if you need it

We took Monty out for the evening last night we took him to Plymouth for ice cream and a walk. What can I say He was a show stopper!!!!! We couldn't walk more than 6 steps without some one stopping us to talk to him, pet him and in some cases a full blown hug,we even had to stop for a photograph!!! He was just adorable, loved being with all the people and at one point I think there was 6 children clambering to pet him....he sat and just loved it. Then came the ice cream....his first! His eyes were nearly closed with ecstacy. He licked, very gently until it was gone. We are bursting with pride.

Thank you. Yes, it has been helpful. Monty is always supervised while he has one I use it to get a bit of peace and quiet in the evenings. The ones that I have given him are about 8 inches long and is a sheet rolled up into about 2 inches in diameter. It takes him less than an hour to get through the whole thing. he has maybe one a week. But I think I may have to find something else for him. He doesn't like his Kong, with or without treats/peanut butter in it. Also he sems to have lost interest in the Nylabone unless I am holding it for him!!!!!

On a couple of occasions I have given Monty a rawhide to chew. He spends quite a bit of time chewing and then gets them to a certain size and then swallows it. I can't think that this is good for him, do you think I should not let him have them any more

Big Dogs with Jobs / Re: Rally Obedience
« on: August 04, 2007, 03:17:21 am »
i have been taking Monty to obedience classes for a while now.The instuctors there have tried frequently to get me interested in taking him to the rally classes. Is it a tremendous amount of extra work to do it. Monty is now 9 months old, is he at a good age for that type of training?

Big Dogs with Jobs / Drafting

Does anybody take their Saints drafting/carting. I am thinking about it with Monty. I have to do a bit more research yet as I don't know much about it. We would only do it for fun but I think he would love giving all the kids rides. What do you all think.
